The countdown is on, Book Bag Club friends! Five days until our Camp Cryptid Pop-Up Playdate celebrating the end of our summer reading program!

Join us and our friends SPARK Imagination and Science Center at Chestnut Ridge Park & Campground this Saturday anytime from 4:00 - 6:00 PM for all the salamander and cryptid fun, then stay and enjoy a wonderful family concert with Megan Jean’s Secret Family on us!

Sad news, Book Bag Club friends -- our Purple Crayon Pop-Up Playdate is being shelved to keep all our readers in peak bookworm condition. Stay in with a good book, and add more books to your bookshelf trackers for cool prizes at Camp Cryptid on August 1! We'll see you there!

Due to the air quality in Morgantown today, Spark! has made the difficult decision to not have our STEAM-powered fun booth at the Ruby Amphitheater this evening, July 17.

We will be back next Friday (7/24) with more STEAM fun for everyone!

UPDATE: it seems that all of the elements have joined forces in conspiring to keep us home with a good book this weekend. Stay cool and calm with an epic read, then, we will see you on August 1st at Camp Cryptid!

The last of our Book Bag Club summer reading program events are almost here, and we would love to see you out and about!

Friday, July 17th -- "Harold and the Purple Crayon" Pop-Up Playdate featuring a book trail + kids community art project + free purple crayons and printables at the Ruby Summer Concert Series at Ruby Amphitheater on the Waterfront with our friends at SPARK! Come out and dance with us to Switchfoot with Hello June!

Sunday, July 19th -- "Robo-Sauce" Make & Take Read Aloud plus DIY robot masks and a robot dance party at SPARK Sundays...plus the installation of our new Book Bag Club Book Nook in their museum!

Saturday, August 1st -- Save the date for our Camp Cryptid summer reading program wrap party at Chestnut Ridge Park by Feather Lake! We'll be there from 4:00 - 6:00 PM with tons of cool cryptid + salamander prizes, activities, books and goodies. Register to attend in advance and stay to play with the incredible band Megan Jean's Secret Family from 6:30 PM onwards on us! Registration link will be posted on Sunday!

Hey, Book Bag Club friends! Our first collaborative Young At Art workshop with Summer 2026 reading program partner SPARK Imagination and Science Center is already here! Come out and play TOMORROW MORNING FOR FREE (ON US!) at the science center @ 10:30 AM, and join our Book Bag Club families in learning about indigenous Pop Art artist George Littlechild with a very creative Make & Take Read Aloud!

We are looking for online and virtual tutors! Help adults reach their personal, professional, and educational goals by improving their English or reading/writing skills. As a tutor, you'll meet with your learner for at least one hour a week and report their progress monthly. No experience? No problem! We provide Pro-Literacy training, materials, and lesson plans to get you started. Once trained, you'll be a certified Pro-Literacy tutor!

Signing up is easy—just meet with our director for 15 minutes and provide three references. We ask for at least a 12-week commitment. If you are interested, please email [email protected]!

LVMPC is excited to share our Free Virtual Summer Class Schedule for adults in Monongalia and Preston Counties, West Virginia! All classes are taught by a certified English teacher. You must be over 18 and live in West Virginia to join. They will be online on Zoom. Classes begin the week of May 25th and run until the end of July (There will be no class on Memorial Day).

We spent this Day of Caring making new little, free library doors that we can use to replace broken ones. Our group was amazing!
