THANKSGIVING TEAMWORK - Bob makes the dough and prepares the apples. I do the fluting. The wispy white plumes coming from the top of the pie are actually steam, made visible by the angle of the late afternoon winter sunlight. Pie is one of the many reasons this is my favorite holiday. Food, family, friends, no decorations, and no wrapping - what could be better? Can't wait till everyone arrives!

MICA LECTURE ON FIRST AMENDMENT - I am proud that my husband, Bob Bastress, has spent years studying the First Amendment. On Thursday, Nov. 20th, he will share his knowledge with our communityand discuss how the First Amendment may be interpreted in cases involving individuals and groups who are being attacked, at least in part, because of their point of view. WEST CHESTER SWARM - We brought a litter of 5 7-week-old Coton de Tulear puppies and three Biewer terriers (a mom and her two kids) to West Chester University. WCU students enjoyed snuggling them and heard from our team about the importance of the PA Supreme Court election We head to three more campuses today - Penn, Temple and Widener. Fingers crossed that Pennsylvanians elect a Supreme Court that ensures cast ballots are counted and protects women's rights!

PINK PUPPY CLUB ON THE ROAD - Adrianne L. Dering and I just returned from another big road trip to several Vote for Equality PA campuses with her adorable Coton De Tulear puppies and three very cute Biewer terriers. Students are drawn to snuggle with them like a magnet. Pictured here are Team members from Shippensburg and Bucknell Universities tabling on campus and holding a Candy Election. The fall leaves are at peak color!

It's that time of year again! Morgantown NOW is going to hold its Fourth Annual Berlin-Style Ping Pong Fundraiser. If you've been, you know how much fun it is, and if you haven't, come find out! It's from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26 at The Co-op, 131 Pleasant St. Costumes are encouraged! We'll be raising money for Holler Health Justice. And thanks to The Co-op for the space!

GOOD NEWS! The Real WV (therealwv.com) is an online publication dedicated to sharing stories that "empower and uplift weekly." It regularly posts "Good News", like this article about woodturners providing wig stands for cancer patients. Woodturners of WV seems to be based primarily in southern West Virginia. Are there woodturners in north central who might be interested (or are already involved) in a project like this?
