Mrs. Molitor and her team of food service superheroes knocked it out of the park with the first summer meal pickup!

They prepared 400 breakfast and lunch kits and completely ran out 30 minutes before the scheduled end time. It's a great example of just how valuable this program is to our community.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and kindness as the team worked through the details of their first pickup day. Mrs. Molitor has already shared that there will be even more kits available and additional support next week!

Summer is already off to a fantastic start! ☀️💙💛

Good Morning, Mohawks!

Today is the first Summer Food Program pickup! Please refer to the attached map for traffic flow directions.

All vehicles should enter through the Elementary School entrance and follow the designated route through the parking lot, looping around to the front of the High School. Food pickup will take place directly outside the High School cafeteria, where Food Service staff will bring meals to your vehicle.

For the safety and efficiency of the pickup process, please remain in your vehicle and do not park or exit your car while in the pickup line.

I would like to say thank you to the Morley, American Legion personnel. The incident with the bus this morning occurred right in front of American Legion parking lot. Their staff and members open the doors to the building to give our students a warm, comfortable and safe place to wait. Thank you for helping to care for our communities most valuable members, our children.

Statement from Mr. Cole:

I wanted to follow up regarding this morning’s incident. According to findings from law enforcement, the accident involving one of our buses and another vehicle was not the fault of the bus driver, and no citation was issued to the driver.

We are very thankful and relieved that no one was seriously injured beyond a few minor bumps and bruises. I also want to commend our staff and emergency response personnel for their quick response and support of our students during the situation.

Accident Update: All students involved in this morning’s bus-related vehicle accident have been evaluated and released to their parents. We are thankful to report that there were no serious injuries.

Morley Stanwood Community Schools is proud to announce that the Board of Education has selected James Nelson as the district’s next superintendent.

“Mr. Nelson is a proven and experienced educational leader whose passion for public education and student focus will continue the district’s tradition of high expectations and promoting the success of all students,” said Board President Emily Bongard. “The board is confident that Mr. Nelson’s vision will continue to empower staff and students to learn, lead, and thrive.”

Mr. Nelson brings a wealth of experience in education, having served in leadership roles at both Morley Stanwood Community Schools and Newaygo Public Schools. He also spent years in the classroom at Shepherd Public Schools as both a physical education and social studies teacher.

The Board’s decision followed an inclusive process that included valuable input from staff, parents, and community members through surveys and candidate interviews. Morley Stanwood Community Schools appreciates everyone who participated and supported the process.

Contract negotiations are currently underway, with Mr. Nelson expected to officially assume the superintendent position on July 1, 2026.
