The Morrilton Rotary Club heard a presentation on Tuesday, May 19 from Paige McCammon regarding CES Waiver Services. Paige and her husband, Seth, are seeking changes to a state Medicaid waiver program after facing roadblocks in the care of their two-year-old son, Turner. Turner was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder. Turner suffers from DHDDS, an extremely rare disease that causes severe epilepsy, Parkinsonism, and childhood dementia. He was placed on a waiting list for specialized medical equipment. Paige and Seth say they need equipment like a medical-grade bed, bath seat, and seizure-monitoring cameras to keep him safe at home. Paige – who works as a counselor and Math Interventionist at Sacred Heart School in Morrilton – says they applied for a Community and Employment Support waiver through Medicaid. But she says they were told the wait could last anywhere from two to ten years. Paige also says they were also told institutional care could speed up access to services — something she and Seth strongly oppose. Pictured, left to right, are Paige's mother, Barbi Kordsmeier; club members Doug Cahill and Kara Jones, Paige McCammon, club member Carson Cahill, holding Paige's son Turner; club president David Norman, and guests Grant and Alisha Koonce.

Menifee Mayor Terry Coleman told the Morrilton Rotary Club Tuesday, April 28, that the town is taking steps to upgrade its park and preserve a piece of local history. The town recently received a nearly $100,000 Facilities for Underdeveloped Neighborhoods Park grant to install new ADA-accessible playground equipment, along with rubber mulch, improved parking, and updated signage at Menifee City Park. The town is also pursuing a Trails for Life grant through the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism to develop a smoke-free walking trail. Coleman said the town is also seeking funding to restore its historic gymnasium, built in 1938 with support from the Works Progress Administration. Menifee celebrated its 60th anniversary of incorporation in 2025, and is planning a number of celebrations in the coming year to continue to engage both residents and former residents in the community.
