School is almost back in session! 📚🚌

As students return to school next week, the Morris Plains Police Department is reminding all motorists to slow down, stay alert, and obey all traffic laws in and around our school zones.

Throughout the month of September, officers will be conducting increased traffic enforcement in our school zones with a ZERO TOLERANCE approach toward traffic violations.

Please remember:

🚸 Slow down and obey posted speed limits
🛑 Come to a complete stop at stop signs
🚌 Stop for school buses when required
📵 Put the phone down and keep your attention on the road
🚶 Watch carefully for children, crossing guards, and pedestrians

Our goal is simple: keep our students, families, and crossing guards safe as the new school year begins.

Morris Plains Police Alert: Granniss Avenue is closed from Mountain Way to Sun Valley Way today till 4:00 pm as PSE&G continues gas upgrades. Officers are on scene to assist motorists and a detour is in place.

On behalf of the Morris Plains Police Department, we want to extend our deepest condolences to the Crowley Family and Randolph Police Department. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sgt. Crowley’s family, friends, the PD, and the Randolph Community. He will be greatly missed and left a lasting impression on all that knew him. Rest in Peace Sgt. Crowley.

Tomorrow- Wednesday, August 19th, from 9am-2pm, the Morris Plains Police Department in conjunction with the New Jersey DMV, is hosting a mobile inspection station at Community Park. By bringing inspections directly to Morris Plains, we want to help residents stay compliant with state requirements in a more convenient and efficient manner—reducing travel time, long wait lines, and overall burden on MVC facilities.

Morris Plains Police Alert: Line striping for the Stiles Avenue project is about to begin. The contractor is starting on Stiles Avenue near West Hanover Avenue. Roads will be passable, with only soft road closures planned, allowing for local traffic to go in and out of the surrounding neighborhoods.
