On behalf of the Officers and Membership of the Fairchild Fire Company, we regret to announce the passing of Life Member, Edward Francis Duffy.

Edward joined the Fairchild Fire Company and Morris Township Fire Department in 1959, serving the Township for nearly 66 years and had answered calls up until 2023 having top percentage, overall he served the company and department in numerous roles working through the ranks, becoming one of the first Department Battalion Chiefs.

On Easter Sunday 2025, The Morris Township Fire Department was alerted to a Structure Fire in the area of Fosterfields. Engines 1,2 and Ladder 2 was clearing from a previous call and was advised the call was a working brush fire threatening structures.

The crew of Ladder 2 provided a water supply to Engine 1 who positioned in a driveway in order to access the fire and provide structure protection. The rest of the department and an extensive mutual aid group provided manpower and equipment for nearly 6 hours until the nearly 6 acre blaze was placed under control.

We would like to extend a thank you to our mutual aid partners who aided in Water Supply, Manpower, and providing coverage at our firehouse during this incident.

On behalf of our membership at the Fairchild Fire Company, we congratulate our elected Firematic and Executive Officers for the year 2025.

As we start to close out 2024, we thank our 2024 Officers for their work throughout the year.

On Friday, December 27, Fairchild, Hillside Hose Co. #1 and Morris Township FMBA Local 70 was dispatched into the Butterworth Farms area of Fairchild for a reported Chimney Fire.

Upon the arrival of Engine 2, charging smoke and sparks/embers were observed, landing on the roof of home. Ladder 2 of Fairchild positioned in the driveway and members operated for just under an hour before returning to service, containing the fire to the chimney with no extension to the home.
