Leadership during a crisis is easy to see. But some of the most important work happens quietly. Day after day, meeting after meeting, conversation after conversation, and decision after decision.

It means listening to residents, working with Borough employees and volunteers, responding when concerns come up, and staying engaged long after the immediate crisis has passed.

Mayor Karr brings the same steady, independent, hands-on approach to the everyday responsibilities of serving Morris Plains that he demonstrated during the storm. He understands that public service is not about recognition. It's about being present, doing the work, and following through.

This kind of commitment matters. And Morris Plains deserves nothing less.

THIS is what leadership looks like.

When this crazy storm left nearly all of the Borough without power .mpmayor didn't disappear. He rolled up his sleeves and got to work.

From the very beginning, Mayor Karr has been working tirelessly alongside our Department of Public Works, Police Department, Fire Department, first responders, utility crews, and emergency management personnel to help the Borough recover. He has been visible, engaged, and committed every step of the way by coordinating resources, communicating with residents, and working to get Morris Plains back on its feet.

Leadership isn't about talking. It's about showing up when your community needs you most.

To everyone who has been working around the clock to clear roads, restore power, keep our neighborhoods safe, and care for our residents...thank you. Your dedication has made an incredible difference.

Morris Plains is resilient because of the people who step forward in difficult times. Mayor Jason Karr has demonstrated exactly the kind of steady, hands-on leadership our community deserves.

Join us as we celebrate the birth of the greatest nation in the world and honor the courageous men and women whose vision, sacrifice, and love of liberty made our independence possible.

As we gather with family, friends, and neighbors let us also take a moment to reflect on the blessings of freedom and the responsibilities that come with it. The principles of liberty, personal responsibility, limited government, and opportunity remain as important today as they were on July 4, 1776.

We are especially grateful to the members of our Armed Forces, our veterans, first responders, and all those who continue to protect the freedoms we cherish.

From all of us at the Morris Plains Republican Club, we wish you and your family a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day.

This Memorial Day weekend, we honor and remember the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. May this Field of Flags by Morris Plains Watnong VFW Post 3401 be a place to reflect on their courage, dedication, and selflessness. Please keep their legacy alive by cherishing the freedoms they fought to protect. We wish everyone a meaningful and peaceful Memorial Day. ❤️🤍💙

Our very own...Mayor Frank Druetzler!

It wouldn’t be Memorial Day weekend if Morris County didn’t wish “Number 7” a very Happy Birthday – which is today. Uncle Frank was instrumental in starting our annual Memorial Day Observance ceremony outside the historic Morris County Courthouse.

The Board of County Commissioners and the Administration want to thank him for that tradition, as we reflect these next few days on those brave souls who paid the ultimate price to ensure America’s freedom over the past 250 years.

It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of former Morris Plains Mayor Al Florin.

Mayor Florin was a dedicated public servant who gave so much of himself to our community. His leadership, commitment, and love for Morris Plains helped shape the Borough we know today. He served our community in many roles, including as a Councilman, a member of the Morris Plains Library Board of Trustees, a 50-year member and Past Chief of the Morris Plains Fire Department, and as an advisor to the Centennial Committee. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of service, integrity, and pride in our town.

In recognition of his service and lasting impact, flags in Morris Plains are being flown at half-staff in Mayor Florin’s honor through Saturday, April 11, 2026.

On behalf of our entire community, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

We are grateful for his contributions and will remember him with respect and appreciation.

Rest in peace, Mayor Florin.
