A big CONGRATULATIONS once again to Deputy Carl Aschnewitz! Deputy Aschnewitz recently received the “Hat Trick” award from the Minnesota Toward Zero Death (TZD) program!
The “Hat Trick” award is a recognition/award given to law enforcement officers who make three DWI (Driving While Impaired) arrests in a single shift. The name comes from hockey, where a “hat trick” means scoring three goals in one game — here, it symbolizes three successful DWI arrests in one shift. Minnesota Toward Zero Death (TZD) is the state’s cornerstone traffic safety program that employs an interdisciplinary approach to reducing traffic crashes, injuries, and deaths on Minnesota roads. The program’s vision is to reduce fatalities and serious injuries to zero. The award is presented by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety to celebrate law enforcement officers who effectively get impaired drivers off the road.
Our entire office is thankful for Deputy Aschnewitz’s continued efforts to remove impaired drivers from the roadways of Stevens County! We’re proud of you, Carl! GREAT WORK!
