We're kicking off the 2026 Concert on the Courthouse Lawn series Thursday (5/28) with the Wayne Messmer Combo! Showtime is 6:30PM. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy an evening of music and community.

Note: In case of rain or excessive heat, all courthouse lawn concerts will move to the Morris Elementary School District #54 Cafetorium.

Join us in welcoming Sam Mateski back as the City of Morris, IL summer intern! He joins us for the third year through the Grundy Economic Development Council internship program.

Sam is a 2024 Morris Community High School graduate and rising junior at The University of Alabama, double majoring in Finance and Economics with a minor in Political Science on the pre-law track. He recently earned President’s List honors and is involved in the Culverhouse Business Honors Program.

At Alabama, Sam serves as Grant & Funding Chair for Kappa Alpha Pi, a pre-law and government fraternity, and is a leader within Phi Kappa Psi. He also works with Crank Technologies, a student startup company focused on social discovery and event engagement. This past semester, Sam also got involved in a U.S. Senate campaign.

This summer, Sam is supporting special events, communications, Downtown Morris marketing initiatives, ordinance and grant research, and tourism promotion. City staff enjoys seeing how he links past internship experience to new opportunities in college. Help us welcome Sam back for another great summer in Morris!
