Today, 18 Republican candidates for the Illinois House released an open letter urging Governor JB Pritzker and Springfield Democrats to use the final days of the legislative session to deliver affordability relief for families by rejecting tax increases, controlling government spending, and advancing House Republicans’ property tax relief package before adjournment at the end of the week.

Our state continues to mourn the fallen Chicago Police officer and pray for the recovery of the other officer in critical condition.

This tragedy was preventable and should have never happened. Because of the failures of the SAFE-T Act, a dangerous repeat offender was back on the street. Democrats need to stop defending this broken law and start getting serious about public safety.

This week in Springfield, Democrats rammed through HJRCA 28, a constitutional amendment that would cement their partisan power grab and lock rigged electoral maps into our state constitution. If passed by the General Assembly, the measure will appear on the ballot in November. If voters approve it, Democrats will make gerrymandering even easier than it already is in Illinois, further disenfranchising voters and tightening their grip on power.
