Kinsman, IL- On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 7:09 a.m., Grundy County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Kinsman Road and Prairie Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash involving one driver being ejected.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Unit 1, a red 2002 Ford Ranger pickup truck, was traveling east on Prairie Road approaching the intersection of Kinsman Road, where traffic is controlled by a stop sign. The driver of Unit 1 has been identified as Carlin J. McGarvey, 23, of Streator. We would like to take this time to acknowledge our AWESOME correctional officers and thank them for their dedication to the field each and every day! We've got a great group of men and women here at the Sheriff's Office.

National Correctional Officers and Employees Week was established in 1984 by President Reagan, this week recognizes the demanding and often dangerous work correctional staff perform to ensure public safety and maintain security

"No group of Americans has a more difficult or less publicly visible job than the brave men and women who work in our correctional facilities. The important work of Correctional Officers often does not receive the recognition from the public it deserves"- "President Ronald Reagan"
