As is normal police policy everywhere, the FBI didn’t disclose the details of an active investigation. As Trump points out, if only they had just ignored their own rules and proper conduct, revealing the details might have tipped the whole election towards a Trump win. I mean, probably not, but a specious argument is just as good as a legitimate one if you’re trying to whip-up a crowd. Doing so has a long, and occasionally successful history in many revolutions against a legitimate government.
Yes, having the national police (FBI) would have been an explicitly political move. However, all authoritarian governments have used their Stasi to do it. In fact the FBI’s head had done the same thing the week before the prior election and that definitely secured a Trump win over Hillary Clinton. If only the FBI had been loyal to their president again, then we wouldn’t be having this dumb argument. Instead Trump would have Trumped up a completely different random objection.
I disagree with Trump that re-running the election is a “minimal step.” His original suggestion of just declaring him the actual winner, two years after the fact, makes much more sense.
Yes, he said that. Just a couple days ago. On his own Truth (same Truth is the same name as the Soviet national paper “Pravda”)social media site.
Mr Trump also claims he should be declared the winner of the 2020 election because, in his opinion, the FBI ‘buried’ a widely-publicised report on the contents of a laptop purportedly belonging to President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden
