It is located in the parking lot in the southwest corner of Interstate 80 and Illinois 47. Located in Morris Illinois, Morris' 9/11 Memorial Park is a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives, time, energy, and hearts on that fateful day in 2001. What started off as an idea, city officials and volunteers started gathering input to create a unique idea to make sure Morris "never forgets" those w

ho died in the attack on America. The project took more than 10 years to complete due to fundraising and legalities with land acquisition. At the center of the memorial is a 110-foot flag pole (representing the 110 floors of the World Trade Center) with a 30-foot by 50-foot American flag. Along the back perimeter of the memorial is a wall built from engraved bricks that individuals have purchased, along with a steel silhouette of the New York City skyline with the Twin Towers represented. Memorial bricks can be ordered and added to the wall. To order a brick, forms can be picked up at the Morris Municipal Services Facility, 700 N. The engraved bricks are available for $100 each. Tomorrow (9-11-18) at 7:30 am, we will meet with Morris VFW Post 6049, Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District, and Grundy County Sheriff's Office at the Morris 9/11 Flag Park, located in the Morris Big R parking lot.

The short program will feature the VFW Post 6049 Color Guard, a Moment of Silence, a prayer by Morris Police Chaplain Steve Larson, and Taps played by Ptlm Steve Huettemann.

It's a great time for the community to come to together to remember those who lost their lives and those who worked to restore.
