Maximizing every opportunity to train, MFC members tackled several objectives during last night’s drill night. Multiple scenarios were staged, allowing firefighters to sharpen a wide range of skills in realistic situations.
At the first scene, crews masked up to battle a simulated dumpster fire. Firefighters used hydraulic ventilation techniques to push heat and smoke away from the dumpster lid while other members used hand tools to force it open, giving the hand line better access to extinguish the fire safely and effectively.
Meanwhile, around the corner, another crew responded to a mock motor vehicle accident involving a large pine tree crushing the roof of a car. Using Res-Q-Jacks, firefighters stabilized and lifted the tree before deploying Hurst e-draulic extrication tools to cut posts, remove structural components, and roll the dashboard to gain access to potential victims.
We’re grateful to community member George Deacon for providing the resources that made this training possible, and to all of our MFC members who continue dedicating their time and effort to strengthening their skills and serving our community
