We haven't had a chance to tally up all the numbers, but it was quite an experience for our town of 100 people to have a few thousand extra people around.

We had riders coming through for at least 11 hours today. There was a steady stream of constant riders coming through for about 4 hours of that. Here is the last group about 4pm...ready to go out with the trash😉

Thank you, RAGBRAI riders for visiting our little town. We took a lot of pictures with the gigangic porta potty and the big orange chair, ate a lot of great food & shared a lot smiles. We have many stories to share of the nice people we met today. Hopefully you felt the small town love & have safe travels the rest of the way!

When you mark your trip to Morrison with a photo in the big chair as one of the smallest towns on the RAGBRAI route, or see the history on the walls of the Morris Inn Steakhouse, or feel the past in the old log cabin at the heritage museum, we want you to know a little about the man named on this big rock in your picture.

"Tom [McLean] was a special part of his community and was known for being someone who would help anyone, with anything, at any time. Few men come along like this in someone’s lifetime and he will be missed by everyone whose life he touched.

Tom and Kelly purchased the Morris Inn Steakhouse on June 1, 1996 and this became a large part of their lives for the next 27 ½ years. They created a family at the Morris Inn and he built a reputation of being a father to those who needed it, a friend to those who wanted it, and a great person to those who knew him." (from Tom's obituary)

We hope you enjoy your little trip through Morrison, feel the small town Iowa love and know that you helped keep one more small Iowa town alive. It's hard to keep the basics going for a town this small, so thank you for your support of our small business owners and non-profit groups.

🥧🍨💦 Homemade Pie, Ice Cream & Beverages from The Pie Lady - Iowa
Laura Bru is from a neighboring town & is the owner/ operator of The Pie Lady LLC. She is family operated with some great help from friends. She has been running their food truck since 2018, and has served on RAGBRAI for about 10 years. All of her pies are made fresh and from scratch. The homemade ice cream machine runs with hit and miss engines.
She is also at the National Balloon Classic, Indianola, IA and the Farm Progress Show, Boone, IA

🥚🍞🥞🍩 Fried Bread & Eggs on a Stick @ Grundy County Conservation
Heritage Museum
A piece of bread dough is deep fat fried then dipped it in sugar or sugar and cinnamon. The local classic fried bread was started by Jessie Cooley in 1980 especially for the Pioneer Craft Fair (our town celebration every fall). Jessie and Carol Freed used to stir up 2 or 3 batches by hand. Now a mixer is used and they always sell out.

Hard boiled eggs on a stick & add your own seasoning will also be offered in their air conditioned building

🥒🍌💦DMACC Ag Club will be offering a variety of grab and go items like Gatorade, hydration packs, bananas and pickles.
