The Township is excited to announce that we have received our Senior Shuttle Bus!

Thank you for your patience as we work through the next steps before launching the service to the public. Over the coming months, we will be creating a driver job posting, designing decals, establishing routes, setting up a ride request system, and finalizing the details needed to ensure the program runs smoothly.

More information will be shared soon, but this marks an exciting next step for Morris Township seniors!

Pictured are some of our township seniors alongside Mayor Donna Guariglia, Committeewoman Samantha Rothman and former Committeeman Mark Gyorfy. Also pictured are representatives from the Health Department, including Health Official Liz Zalme, Public Health Nurse Kathy Whitehead, and Community Outreach Specialist Marlina Schetting.

Last Wednesday, Mayor Donna Guariglia officially proclaimed May as Historic Preservation Month, recognizing the importance of preserving the stories and landmarks that connect us to our shared past. https://youtu.be/bH4ATW9Eb8Q?si=lwbLJ4f9J3xhVxgy

The Historic Preservation Commission was also proud to present its 2026 Preservation Award to Marian Levinsohn of the Washington Valley Historic District. Her home, originally built in 1789 by Jacob Arnold, was selected in recognition of the Arnold family’s history, their contributions during the Revolutionary War, and in celebration of America 250.

Preserving historic homes and places helps keep our local history alive for future generations. Congratulations to Marian Levinsohn on this well-deserved honor.

The Environmental Commission requests your participation in our Quiet Summer initiative. The goal is to foster peace and quiet in our yards, as well as a greater awareness of the health hazards associated with gas-powered leaf blowers. These issues impact both residents and landscapers.

We ask homeowners and landscapers to suspend the use of gas-powered leaf blowers from May until the end of September. This is when they are only used to blow grass clippings. (Electric leaf blowers, while not ideal, are considerably quieter and non-polluting, and are acceptable alternatives.)

Click here for a bilingual letter to share with your landscapers: https://files.constantcontact.com/32a35e6b701/4fe1bb78-b513-483e-a9c2-827dbd2e1468.pdf?rdr=true

While noise nuisance is what often sparks concerns about these machines, we have learned about the health impact of gas-powered leaf blowers through a growing body of scientific studies.

-Exposure to loud and/or persistent noise contributes to hearing loss, hypertension, ischemic heart disease, annoyance, sleep disturbance, and cognitive impairment.

-A leaf blower’s two-stroke engine emits up to one-third of its fuel un-burned, spewing toxic pollution containing carbon monoxide, nitrogen-oxides, and volatile organic compounds like benzene and formaldehyde.

-Fine carbon particulate matter created by gas-powered leaf blowers can linger in the air for days and is linked to asthma, lung disease, heart disease, and cancer.
