Commissioners Tayfun Selen and Deb Smith were honored to join the Denville Volunteer Fire Department Saturday night for its 100th anniversary dinner and present a resolution of honor on behalf of the Morris County Board of County Commissioners.

The department was founded in 1926 by a group of Denville residents who recognized the need for local fire protection. Its first members raised funds in the community to purchase their first fire engine, “Old Betsy,” and built their first firehouse through donated materials and volunteer labor.

A century later, that tradition of volunteer service continues with generations of firefighters answering the call to protect their neighbors.

Congratulations to Fire Chief Jason Lezcano and all the members of the Denville Volunteer Fire Department on 100 years of service. Thank you for all you do to keep Denville and Morris County safe!

Traffic Shift and Overnight Alternating Traffic: Route 15 in Lafayette

Motorists should anticipate overnight travel impacts and an upcoming traffic shift on Route 15 in Lafayette starting tonight, Friday, September 25:

Overnight Alternating Traffic (8 p.m. tonight to 7 a.m. Saturday): Route 15 will operate with alternating single-lane traffic controlled by flaggers between the Lafayette Fire House and Morris Farm Road to allow crews to restripe the road and remove temporary signals. Drivers should slow down and expect delays.

Two-Way Traffic Shift (Beginning 7 a.m. Saturday, September 26): Crews will restore one lane of traffic in each direction by shifting motorists onto a newly constructed temporary bridge over Paulins Kill.

The traffic shift allows for the demolition and replacement of the permanent Route 15 Bridge over Paulins Kill. The regular entrance to the Lafayette Pond Park parking lot remains closed throughout construction, with access directed to the temporary driveway.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website https://ow.ly/9O3R50ZRsst for real-time travel information, and for NJDOT news follow us on X (Twitter) New Jersey Department of Transportation the NJDOT page, or on Instagram .DOT.
