3rd Battalion, 112th Field Artillery Regiment

The 3rd Battalion, 112th Field Artillery Regiment has its headquarters in Morristown (Morris County), New Jersey. The primary weapon system is the M777A2 (155mm) towed howitzer and the M119A3 (105mm) towed howitzer. The battalion has five subordinate units located in Morristown, Toms River (Ocean County), Flemington (Hunte
rdon County) and a Fire Support Detachment located in Freehold (Monmouth County). The field artillery can fire projectiles over 18 miles with pinpoint accuracy in support of defensive and offensive operations. In addition to cannoneers, the battalion has positions for surveyors, fire support, fire direction, cooks, ammunition handlers, communication, human resources, mechanics, supply, drivers, and medics. The mission of the Field Artillery (FA) is to destroy, defeat, or disrupt the enemy with integrated fires to enable maneuver commanders to dominate in unified land operations. As a member of the 44th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (42nd Infantry Division), 3rd Battalion, 112th Field Artillery Regiment supports the brigade's mission of deploying, fighting, and defeating enemy forces in any type of terrain, weather, or combat situation. In peacetime, the battalion also provides a ready force of Soldiers and equipment to assist New Jersey communities when disaster or emergencies strike. The history of the 3rd Battalion, 112th Field Artillery Regiment extends back to the Revolutionary War with participation in all major conflicts up to the Korean War. Currently, the battalion is led by LTC David Eckenrode and CSM Angel Rosario.
