Joint Morris County Law Enforcement Statement Concerning Social Media Trend Targeting Dec. 17

Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Christoph K. Kimker, Morris County Sheriff James Gannon, and Morris County Police Chiefs Association President and Washington Township Police Department Chief Jeffrey Almer would like to make a joint statement concerning a trend on TikTok targeting this date.

There have been unspecific threats on social media platforms, namely TikTok, discussing the possibility of violent acts occurring in schools today, Dec. 17, 2021. We would like to make it clear that there have been NO credible threats against Morris County schools.

Working collaboratively with our law enforcement partners at the federal, state, county and local levels, our agencies will remain vigilant. We encourage anyone with information about a possible threat to school safety to contact their local police department and/or school resource officer so any concerns can immediately be investigated.

Attention Park Users: Starting next week MCPC will be conducting our annual firearm deer management program at Lewis Morris Park and the Black River Facilities. The parks and trails at these locations will be closed to the general public on the following dates: Black River Facilities (including Willowwood, Bamboo Brook, Elizabeth D. Kay, and Cooper Mill): Dec 6, 9, 16, Jan 6 and 13. Lewis Morris County Park: Dec 8, 10, 15, Jan 5 and 12. The deer management program is an important tool used to minimize the severe threats posed to the biodiversity of native flora and fauna by overabundant white-tailed deer populations. Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Christoph Kimker and Rockaway Township Police Chief Martin McParland are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a 13-year-old female from Rockaway Township, New Jersey, who has been missing since November 22, 2021.

Deris Avila-Ulloa, who also goes by the nicknames Sofia and/or Daisy, and who lives in Rockaway Township, was last known to be at her family home on November 22, 2021 at 8 p.m. She is believed to be wearing a black jacket, black dress, and white socks. She left her home with her cell phone and backpack. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She weighs approximately 100 lbs. and is 5 feet 5 inches in height.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts or this investigation is encouraged to make contact with Rockaway Township Police Department at 973-625-4000 or the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Missing Persons Unit On-Call Detective through the Morris County Communications Center at 973-285-2900.
