This is in response to the post on the Morristown Community page by Anonymous concerning the Morristown Volunteer Fire Department. There was an open public meeting of the Morristown Hanover Township Fire Board this evening. Yes, I Steven M. Davis, appointed fire chief, proposed a 90 day suspension of paid on call staff.

To shed some light on a couple of statements made in the post by Anonymous. This meeting was attended by the Fire Board officials, a few fire department employees and some family members of said employees. That is your first indication that the destructive behavior is solely coming from within the ranks of the Morristown Fire Department.

This 90 day suspension of paid on call was proposed solely by me, the fire chief, to review policies and procedures, seek legal counsel, and implement the policies and procedures to make the department safer and more efficient. Ultimately making the department better for the future.

I have served in all capacities of the Morristown Fire Department for over 35 years.
Sometimes hard choices need to be made to improve. If you want to cast stones cast them at me but the rest of the dedicated volunteers that faithfully serve under my command are off limits.

Sincerely,
Steven M. Davis Fire Chief.
