Mr. Rawding, retired police lieutenant, and a well-respected, fiercely loved member of our beloved hometown, Morristown needs our help. He has faced significant health challenges over the course of this year, culminating in a massive heart attack on 9/12 that nearly took his life. But if you know anything about Mr. Rawding, you know he puts up one hell of a fight. And he certainly can’t be easily forced to do anything he doesn’t want to do... and he does not want to leave his family.

Mr. Rawding has been battling for his life at Morristown Medical Center over the past week. After multiple surgeries, with less-than-ideal outcomes, the decision was made to transfer him to Columbia Hospital in NYC for a heart transplant. This means a new city, a major surgery, and a lot of traveling back and forth for the family (and there’s a lot of them!). That doesn’t even begin to touch the medical expenses, or the cost of recovery once Mr. Rawding comes out the other side, and we all know he will.

For the Rawdings, this is more than a medical journey. This is a fight for more time together, more memories. A fight to hold onto the rock of their family. For a chance for Mr. Rawding to see all 7 of his children start families, to see those grandchildren grow up. If you know Mr. Rawding, you know he has always given to any person in his life who has been in need, no matter how peripherally connected to him they were. He has used his position in law enforcement to guide countless members of this community during some of their hardest times. And now, he is facing his hardest time, and he needs the favor returned.

Please, please, PLEASE make a donation to The Rawdings’ fund. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will make an impact, and will allow the family to focus on what matters most: Mr. Rawding’s health and their time together.

If you are unable to donate, please share this fundraiser everywhere you can: friends, family, colleagues, social media. And please, if you pray, pray for Mr. Rawding and his family. This world is better off with him in it.

Twenty-five years later, the weight of September 11, 2001 has not faded.

So many NJ FMBA members answered the call that day and in the hours, days, and weeks that followed. They responded to Ground Zero, supported recovery operations, covered communities, and stood alongside fellow first responders during one of the darkest moments in our nation’s history.

We remember the brothers and sisters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11. We also remember those we have lost in the years since to 9/11-related illnesses, and we stand with the members who continue to live with the lasting effects of their service.

For 25 years, we have carried their names, their sacrifice, and their memory with us.

We will never forget.

Take time today to remember those we lost and those who continue to carry the burden of September 11.

Labor Day is more than a long weekend. It is a reminder of what working men and women have accomplished by standing together, organizing, and refusing to accept anything less than fair treatment on the job.

For the NJ FMBA, that mission has been part of who we are since 1897, when six Locals came together to build an organization that could give career firefighters a stronger voice. Today, that same purpose continues through 136 Fire, EMS, and Dispatcher Locals representing career professionals across New Jersey.

Our union exists to represent, protect, and educate our members. That means fighting for fair contracts, strong pensions and health benefits, safe staffing, improved working conditions, and legislation that protects both first responders and the public we serve. It means standing together at the bargaining table, in Trenton, in Washington, and in every community where an NJ FMBA Local goes to work.

None of that happens without strong Locals and members willing to stay involved. Every contract fought for, every benefit protected, and every improvement made to this profession is stronger because we do it together.

This Labor Day, we recognize the generations who built this union, the Locals carrying that work forward today, and every NJ FMBA member who continues to protect the profession and the people standing beside them.

Stay involved. Stay united. Keep strengthening your Local!

Yesterday Morristown Rescue 5 was dispatched mutual aid into Whippany for the motor vehicle crash that resulted in a vehicle causing damage to a structure. Members of Morristown FMBA Local 43 responded along with Morristown Deputy 1.
Paratech struts were utilized to shore up the structure. While members were finishing up, notifications were received for a potential tornado threat in our immediate area.
Morristown Rescue 5 returned to service and was immediately available to respond to any damage caused by a severe storm.

Good Morning Morristown! 🌅

Well… we made it through another visit from Mother Nature, and thankfully, she decided to be a little more cooperative this time around. 😊🌦️

Other than a manhole fire and some temporary road closures, yesterday's weather was nothing like the severe storms we battled on July 3rd and 4th — and we’ll gladly call that a victory. 🙌

A huge thank you goes out to our Morristown Police Officers, Firefighters, Office of Emergency Management (OEM), and dispatch team at Morris County Communications Center for their professionalism, dedication, and hard work keeping our community safe throughout the day and night. 🚓🚒

Your commitment and quick response make a difference every day.

Now it’s time to enjoy what looks like a beautiful Sunday ahead:

🌞 Sunshine on the way
🍃 Lower humidity and cleaner air
🌡️ Comfortable temperatures
✨ A perfect day to get outside and enjoy all that Morristown has to offer

Whether you’re taking a walk, firing up the grill, spending time with family and friends, or settling in for the FIFA Final this afternoon, we hope you enjoy every minute of it. ⚽🏆

From all of us at the Morristown Department of Public Safety, have a safe, relaxing, and wonderful Sunday, Morristown! of Morristown, NJTown of Morristown - Office of Emergency ManagementMorristown PBA Local 43Morristown FMBA 43Morristown Fire Bureau
