Please keep an eye out for these missing animals!

We had 17 calves stolen from our calf facility on Bliss Road in Oakfield very early Sunday morning. Our primary concern is the health and wellbeing of these calves and having them returned safely. The thieves drove west on Lockport Road toward the Alabama Hotel/Holley Farm intersection after leaving the farm. If any neighbors have cameras that catch passing traffic, we'd really appreciate if you could check for a truck hauling a cattle trailer passing between 1-3 am on Sunday.

For anyone in the cattle industry, please keep an eye out for anyone trying to sell calves that fit this description or with new animals that showed up overnight.

The calves are the approximate age and size of the calves in the photo - 5 month old Holstein heifers. Their ear tags, if they still have them, look like those in the photo. They have an electronic ID button in their left ear, and 1 or 2 large tags in both ears, and an ear.punch in their right ear as all have been genotyped and could be identified by another hair or tissue sample.

If you have any information, please contact the Genesee County Sheriffs office. Again, we want our calves back safely and are very concerned about their well-being. Your help is appreciated.

Our final dairy club officer is our Social Media Manager, Kelly Niefergold! Get to know more about Kelly below.

“I will be entering my third year at SUNY Morrisville studying Agribusiness Management. I graduated with my associates in Animal Science-Dairy this May. I am from Lawtons, NY. I chose SUNY Morrisville because of the hands on learning and the real life decisions we get to be apart of. My favorite dairy breed is a Holstein. My favorite dairy club activity was our trip to California where we got to tour many large dairy farms. If I could live off of one dairy product I would choose cheese!

Dairy club members love activities. They can thank our next officer, the Activities Chair, Sara Dreibelbis! Learn more about Sara below!

“I am Sara Dreibelbis from Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania. I am in the Dairy Science major at SUNY Morrisville. I just completed my first year! I chose SUNY Morrisville because of the hands on learning and it has a dairy farm on campus. My favorite dairy breed is a Holstein. My favorite dairy club activity was when we went to California and saw many large dairy farms. We also saw the golden gate bridge and went to Alcatraz. If I could live off of one dairy product, it would be ice cream!”

Our next officer post is our club Secretary, Megan Klossner! Get to learn more about Megan below.

“Hi everyone, I am Megan Klossner. I am from Turin, NY. I just finished my second year at SUNY Morrisville studying Ag Science- Dairy Management B.T. I chose SUNY Morrisville mainly because of its degree path and how quickly I could get into classes that actually interest me. As a freshman, I was able to start taking dairy-focused courses right away instead of having to begin with more general classes like animal science or livestock. That was really important to me because I already knew I wanted to focus on dairy, and Morrisville made it possible to jump straight into that area. It felt like a more direct and hands-on path toward my career goals. My favorite activity I did with dairy club was our trip to California. My favorite dairy breed is an Ayrshire. If I were to pick any dairy product, I would choose cheese.”

We are excited to introduce our next officer! The Vice President is Elanna Gelser. Learn some more about her below.

“I am Elanna Gelser from Dalton, NY. I am currently finishing my associates degree in Animal Science-Dairy and continuing with my bachelors in Agribusiness Management. I chose Morrisville because of the small class sizes, jumping right into dairy classes and being able to be involved in the colleges dairy farm. My favorite dairy breed is a Holstein. My favorite activity I did with the dairy club was our trip to California. If I could live any dairy product for the rest of my life, I would choose milk!”

We are excited to introduce you to our Dairy Club officers for the year. First up is our president, Reese DeVito! Get to know a little more about Reese below.

“I am from Avon, NY and I am just finishing my second year in the Agricultural Science- Dairy Management program. I chose SUNY Morrisville because of the hands-on education, experienced staff members at the campus dairy farm and that I was always greeted by the dairy professors when I came to visit campus. My favorite dairy breed is Holsteins. My favorite dairy club activity was our trip to California this past January. If I had to only live off one dairy product, I would choose chocolate milk.”
