On April 14th, Walking In Authority Teen Council held its FY27 youth council elections! WIATC members simulated the registration process and were able to vote for their fellow members running for office! During the meeting, candidates delivered inspiring speeches to advocate for themselves and empowered their peers to do the same. This practice allowed our teens to gain a greater understanding of the election process and prepares them for future civic engagement. We proudly congratulate our newly elected officers and look forward to seeing the impact they will make while representing WIATC!

The Walking in Authority Teen Council is proud to highlight our 2026 graduating class. This year, we have 15 graduating seniors, 14 of whom are highlighted here, who will be moving on from their K-12 journey to pursue studies ranging from Biomedical Engineering to Neuroscience at schools from Columbia University to the University of Georgia.

We are so proud of every one of our seniors and their dedication to leadership, empowerment, accountability, responsibility, and networking in their community, and we are confident that they will continue to L.E.A.R.N. on their college campuses and beyond! We hope all of our seniors always know they will be part of the WIATC Family and that they will come back to give guidance and support to the next generation of the WIATC Family.

On Saturday, March 28, WIATC hosted our First Annual Literacy Day!! Our members worked together to organize and sort books for a community book drive, helping make reading more accessible for all ages. Throughout the event, we also had the opportunity to learn from engaging financial presentations, gaining valuable knowledge about money management and real life skills. We were also grateful to receive donated prom dresses for our youth’s special occasions! In addition, WIATC was invited by Mundy’s Mill High School to participate in their Fast Track to GMAS event! Our members helped spread awareness about the council while connecting with students and families. We shared information about helpful resources available within CCPS! With the support of our community and a great start to the morning, it was a meaningful experience for everyone involved. It was amazing to see our youth step up, and give back through service and learning!
