Walking In Authority Teen Council empowers teens (13-19) and their parents in Metro Atlanta to advocate for themselves, gain exposure to civic duty, and develop leadership skills in preparation to address community issues and to become agents of change. The programs and events focus on the following criteria: social/recreational, community awareness/ service, educational, leadership/ teamwork, and
fund raising/ recruitment. This organization is very diverse and inclusive. A member enrolls if he or she will be 13 years old by March 1 of the current year. Membership shall be open to all eligible youth regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, and age, medical or handicapping condition. Teen Council members will gain leadership and public speaking, and organizational skills by planning, conducting and or participating in community activities. Teen Council members will support and encourage each other to participate in personal growth opportunities like career focus workshops, communicating orally and in writing seminars, and other educational opportunities. Teen Council members will encourage all community teens to learn more about the Walking In Authority Teen Council and encourage participation.
