Metra Platform Improvement Project Update:
The southern portion of the east side (outbound platform) upgrades at the Morton Grove Metra station has been completed. Work is now moving north as crews continue the work the next section of the outbound platform.

Commuters have access to the outbound platform at the southern end.

The overall platform improvement project will continue through Spring 2027. Please allow additional travel time and use caution around the work areas.

More updates will be shared as the project progresses.

As temperatures remain high today, remember to drink plenty of water and take breaks from the heat. If you do not have access to air conditioning or another way to cool off, consider visiting a nearby cooling center to stay safe and comfortable. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 9-1-1.

Extreme heat is expected today. Heat indices could reach 100-105 degrees through 7 p.m. Cook County cooling centers are open for residents seeking relief. Stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity and seek A/C when possible.

Take a Walk on the Green Side!

As part of the 2026 Sustainability Expo, the Village of Morton Grove Environmental & Natural Resources Commission is excited to announce the return of our Annual Tree Walk!

Following opening remarks by Mayor Janine Witko, the Tree Walk will begin at 10:15 AM and will be led by a Chicago Regional Tree Initiative Steward along with our Public Works Arborist.

Join us as we explore Morton Grove’s urban forest, learn more about the trees that make our community special, and discover the important role they play in creating a greener, healthier, and more sustainable community.

The Village of Morton Grove Administrative Offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

Please keep in mind that Groot refuse and recycling collection will be delayed by one day due to the holiday.

We wish everyone a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable Labor Day weekend! Take some time to unwind, enjoy the long weekend, and spend time with family and friends.

Some Morton Grove residents will be randomly selected to participate in the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning's My Daily Travel survey that will guide and prioritize future investments in our transportation system. A limited number of households are invited to participate and every completed survey is important!

The Village is proud to congratulate our Police Department on earning Third Place in the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police Traffic Safety Challenge, along with the Railroad Safety and Impaired Driving specialty awards.

These honors reflect the hard work and dedication of our officers and their continued commitment to keeping our community and roads safe.

Friendly Reminder: Vehicle Sticker Deadline Approaching!

The August 31 deadline to purchase your 2026–2027 Morton Grove vehicle sticker is quickly approaching!

If you have not purchased your vehicle sticker by August 31, 2026, a $25 late fee will be assessed. The 2026–2027 vehicle sticker year runs from September 1, 2026, through August 31, 2027.

Vehicle stickers can be purchased conveniently online: https://aptvsa.com/mortongrove/resident/login.php

All registered vehicle owners should have received a mailer containing their PIN. If you did not receive the notice or have misplaced your paperwork, please contact Village Hall at 847-965-4100 for assistance.

Don’t wait—purchase your sticker before the August 31 deadline to avoid the late fee!
