Morton ISD is proud to welcome Mrs. Michelle Bright as our new Elementary School Principal! We are also excited to welcome her husband to the Morton ISD team, where he will be serving as our new PE teacher. We are thrilled to have the Bright family joining our district!

Mrs. Bright brings a strong background in elementary education, instructional leadership, special education, campus culture, curriculum, and student success. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Educational Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University, with specializations in Reading and Mathematics, and later completed her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Lubbock Christian University.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Bright has served students, families, and staff in a variety of roles, including classroom teacher, special education lead teacher, assistant principal, and elementary principal. Her experience spans curriculum development, campus safety, special education services, UIL, school culture, community engagement, teacher support, and campus leadership.

Mrs. Bright is known for her heart for students, her commitment to strong instruction, and her dedication to building positive relationships with staff, families, and the community. We are excited for the leadership, experience, and passion she will bring to Morton Elementary.

Morton ISD is proud to welcome Mrs. Virginia Herrera into her new role as Secondary School Principal!

Mrs. Herrera is already a valued member of the Morton ISD family, currently serving as our District Counselor. In that role, she has worked closely with students, staff, families, and campus leadership while supporting scheduling, testing, dual credit, student services, SEL, NHS, FCCLA, McKinney-Vento, and many other important areas across the district.

Mrs. Herrera brings a strong background in counseling, student support, campus collaboration, and instructional organization. Before joining Morton ISD, she served as Lead High School Counselor, Middle School Counselor, Elementary School Counselor, and Pre-K teacher, giving her valuable experience across many grade levels and school settings. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Wayland Baptist University and a Master’s in School Counseling from Lubbock Christian University. She is also currently pursuing her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Lubbock Christian University.

We are excited for Mrs. Herrera to step into this new leadership role and continue building positive relationships with our students, staff, and families. Her heart for students, experience in academic and personal guidance, and commitment to school success will be a tremendous asset to Morton Secondary School.

Morton ISD is proud to announce that Mrs. Holly Boggs, our current Elementary Principal, will be stepping into a new leadership role as the District Principal of Curriculum and Instruction.

Mrs. Boggs has done an exemplary job leading academics at Morton Elementary, and we are excited to see her knowledge, leadership, and passion for student success impact the entire district. Her work at the elementary campus has helped strengthen instruction, support teachers, and create a positive academic environment for our students.

As a hometown girl and proud graduate of Morton ISD, Mrs. Boggs has a deep connection to our school community. Throughout her career, she has served the district in several important roles, including teacher, coach, assistant principal, and elementary principal. In every position, she has shown dedication, professionalism, and a genuine heart for Morton students and families.

Mrs. Boggs is a fantastic asset to Morton ISD, and we are proud that she has agreed to take on this challenging and important role. We look forward to seeing her continue to make a lasting impact across the district.

Notice to Parents and Students

Summer School begins tomorrow!

All summer school students should report to the Elementary Cafeteria for breakfast beginning at 7:30 AM.

Students assigned to secondary summer school programs will remain in the cafeteria until 7:55 AM, when secondary teachers will pick them up and es**rt them to their classrooms.

We look forward to a successful and productive summer learning experience. Thank you for your cooperation and support as we begin another great summer session!

What a game! Today we witnessed an unforgettable softball showdown between our staff and students, and it was one for the books! The crowd was loud, the energy was high, and the competition was fierce — but in the end, the staff came out on top and dominated the field!

From big hits to great plays and lots of laughs, today was all about fun, school spirit, and making memories together.🖤💛
