Grundy Families and Friends, please note that this is a change in the first day of school. It is now Wednesday, August 12th!

On June 1st, it was announced that Illinois would not require school districts to observe Election Day in 2026. Therefore, the district is planning to amend the 2026-2027 calendar.

We will move the first day of teachers' institute to Tuesday, August 11, 2026, and the first student attendance day will be an early dismissal on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

Election Day on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, will be a day of student attendance. The board will officially approve the change at the July 14, 2026, board meeting. At that time, the updated calendar will be shared!

Summer has just began, but if you like to be an early bird attached is a copy of the 2026-2027 School Supply Lists. The lists can be found at the top of the Virtual Backpack on the Grundy website. Who doesn't love a new box of crayons??!

Virtual Backpack is a place for Morton 709 families to receive flyers and other information from the district, schools, and community organizations.

Grundy families, if you are interested in purchasing a 2026-2027 School Supply Kit for an upcoming student in Kindergarten through 6th grade, see the attached QR code. The kits will be available for pick up at In Person Registration on Tuesday, July 28th at the school. Please call the office with any questions (309) 253-1421. Thank you!

We appreciate our partnership with the Morton Public Library! Today our 6th graders visited the library for a tour and to check out books, they heard about all the digital services the library has to offer, they were introduced to the "Teen" summer reading program and they ate lunch in Hannah's Garden. It was a great day!
