We’ll be collecting donations to help support local families and those in need throughout our community. Stop by, say hello to our officers, and help us fill a police cruiser with much-needed items!

The test will begin at 8:00 AM on Saturday. Please make sure all required paperwork is completed and turned in before today’s deadline.

Jonathan Turner

Mr. Turner was recognized for his attentiveness and actions that led to a significant criminal investigation. While servicing a semi-truck, he observed concerning material displayed on electronic devices and immediately reported it. His actions led to an investigation that uncovered a large amount of child sexual abuse material and resulted in the suspect’s arrest and conviction.

These recognitions represent exceptional dedication, teamwork, vigilance, and a shared commitment to keeping our community safe. We are proud of each recipient and thankful for the difference they make every day.

Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Johnson on his promotion to Deputy Chief and Officer Cabell on his promotion to Sergeant!

This promotion is especially significant as it marks the first time in the history of the Morton Police Department that our agency has had a second Deputy Chief position. We are excited for this new chapter and the continued leadership both of these individuals bring to our department and community.

Deputy Chief Johnson has served the Morton community for the past 17 years. Starting as a patrol officer in 2009 and later promoted to Sergeant in 2015, he has held many leadership and training roles including Field Training Officer, Training Coordinator, Morton Auxiliary Liaison, Bike Patrol Officer, and grant writer. He has also served with the Central Illinois Emergency Response Team, including time as Assistant Team Leader. Deputy Chief Johnson holds numerous instructor certifications and has played a major role in preparing officers to respond to critical incidents and better serve our community.

Sergeant Cabell has served the Morton community for 23 years. He began his career with the Morton Police Department in 2003. Throughout his career, he has served in numerous roles including patrol operations, Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer, Crisis Intervention Team member, and investigations. In addition to his law enforcement service, Sgt. Cabell honorably served 22 years in the Illinois Air National Guard before retiring from military service.
