🚒 Fire Prevention Month is off and running! 🚒

The Moscow Fire & Hose Company was proud to kick off Fire Prevention Month this morning at Jefferson Elementary School!

Some of our members joined our brothers and sisters from the Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Company - Station 29 and Elmhurst-Roaring Brook Volunteer Fire Company to provide fire prevention presentations for students in Kindergarten through 3rd Grade.

It was a great morning filled with important lessons, demonstrations, and plenty of interaction with our youngest community members. Teaching children what to do in an emergency and helping them understand the importance of fire safety is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

A big thank you to the students, teachers, staff, and our fellow firefighters for making today a success!

We’re looking forward to visiting more local schools next week as Fire Prevention Month continues!

25 Years Later, We Remember

Today, our fire siren sounded four times — one blast honoring each of the four plane impact events that occurred on September 11, 2001.

Each blast represents a moment that changed our nation forever, and more importantly, a reminder of the lives that were lost and the countless lives forever affected by the tragedy of 9/11.

Twenty-five years later, we pause to remember the 2,977 innocent people who never made it home, the families who were left behind, the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and all those whose lives were forever changed that day.

From our firehouse to our community, we remember. We honor. We will never forget.

🇺🇸 A Moment of Remembrance — September 11, 2001

On September 11, 2026, the Moscow Fire & Hose Company will honor the 25th Anniversary of the September 11th attacks with a special sounding of our historic fire siren.

At the approximate times when the four hijacked aircraft crashed on that tragic morning, the siren will sound for 5 seconds as a solemn reminder of the lives lost and the courage and sacrifice witnessed that day.

🕘 8:46 AM — American Airlines Flight 11 — North Tower, World Trade Center
🕘 9:03 AM — United Airlines Flight 175 — South Tower, World Trade Center
🕘 9:37 AM — American Airlines Flight 77 — Pentagon
🕘 10:03 AM — United Airlines Flight 93 — Shanksville, Pennsylvania

Residents of the Borough of Moscow: Please do not be alarmed if you hear the fire siren at these times. This is not an emergency dispatch or fire call. It is our way of pausing for a moment to remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost, the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and all those whose lives were forever changed on September 11, 2001.

Our weekly Tuesday night training led us to pump training for newer members who recently completed pump operations training. Senior members and Officers kept a watchful eye and mentored these members for tricks of the trade.

If you ever had an interest in volunteering with your local fire department, stop on by any Tuesday night between 7-9pm to meet our members and take a tour.
