FIRE TAKES THE WIN! 🥎

We had a great time this weekend at our annual Police vs. Fire Softball Game! This friendly rivalry is always a fun opportunity to build camaraderie, strengthen relationships, and spend time together outside of emergency calls.

Great work to all of our Fire & EMS volunteers who took the field and brought home the win for Team FIRE! 🔥🏆

After the game, our Fire and Police families came together for a meal at Fire Station 2. A huge thank you to Moscow Alehouse and Sonia’s Tacos for supporting our local first responders and helping us wrap up a great evening together!

We’re grateful for the teamwork, friendships, and good natured competition that make our first responder community such a great team, on and off the field. 🚒🚔🚑🚨

🔥 Welcome to Our New Student Resident Volunteer Firefighters! 🚒

This month, we welcomed seven new Student Resident Firefighters to our team!

These full-time college students moved into the student resident dorms at our fire stations and jumped right into Rookie Weeks in early August. Next week, they’ll add another challenge to their schedules as they begin full-time classes at the University of Idaho. 📚🚒

Over the past few weeks, they’ve been busy learning department operations, radio communications, driving, teamwork, and even getting their first experience pumping on the engine.

Next up: Fire Academy! They’ll join our new community volunteers as they work toward becoming IFSAC Firefighter I certified.

Balancing college and the fire service takes commitment, teamwork, and a willingness to learn. We’re excited to have these seven on our team and wish them the very best as they begin both the academic year and Fire Academy!

Today is Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day, and we're honoring the dedicated men and women who selflessly serve their communities.

Volunteer firefighters respond to emergencies at all hours, train year-round, and sacrifice time with their families to help others when they're needed most.

To every volunteer firefighter across the country: thank you for your courage, your commitment, and everything you do to keep your communities safe.

The City of Moscow Police Department National Night Out is still on for our community. Hope to see you tonight!

We are closely monitoring the air quality in our area, and as of now, our National Night Out is still on this evening! We understand some members of our community are sensitive to the smoke, and for that we are sorry if they are are unable to attend and we will see you next year. If the air quality continues to worsen, we will reconsider hosting the event, and will post updates here.

More than 75% of our Moscow Volunteer Fire Department dispatches are emergency medical incidents. Behind every one of those calls is a neighbor, friend, coworker, or family member counting on someone to answer.

Could that someone be you?

Applications are now open for our Fall EMT Class! This is your opportunity to gain lifesaving skills while becoming part of a dedicated team of volunteer EMTs serving the Moscow community.

Whether you’re interested in a healthcare career, looking for a meaningful way to give back, or simply want to make a difference, we’d love to meet you.

📅 Class Schedule
• September through the first week of December
• Tuesday & Thursday evenings
• A few Saturday sessions

📝 Application Deadline: August 2

Priority admission will be given to applicants who live in Moscow, Idaho and are interested in volunteering with the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, but they share one thing in common: a commitment to helping their neighbors when it matters most.

🚒❤️ It truly takes a community.

In just the last two hours, your Moscow Volunteer Fire Department has responded to five simultaneous emergencies:

🏠 A fully involved house fire
🚗 An injury motor vehicle collision
🔥 A vehicle fire in a parking lot
🚑 A medical emergency
👶 An emergency home childbirth

Calls like these are a powerful reminder that emergencies don’t happen one at a time—and that serving our community truly takes a team.

To our volunteers: thank you for leaving work, family dinners, summer activities, and time with loved ones to respond when your neighbors need you most. Your commitment and dedication to this community is extraordinary.

To the employers, families, and friends who support our volunteers: thank you. Your flexibility and encouragement make volunteer emergency response possible.

We’re also incredibly grateful for our partners who have responded alongside us and supported these incidents, including Moscow Rural Volunteer Fire Department, City of Moscow Police Department, Avista, the American Red Cross Northwest Region, Whitcom 911, and the City of Moscow Fire Department staff who work together to keep our community safe and our emergency services running smoothly.

Every siren you hear represents people coming together to help someone on what may be the worst day of their life. Behind every response is a team of dispatchers coordinating resources, firefighters, EMTs, police officers, utility crews, city staff, and partner agencies working together with one common goal: caring for our community.

We are grateful to serve a community that supports one another—because no one does this job alone. ❤️🚒 🚑🚓🚨
