Public Art Input Opportunity!!

The City of Moscow and the Moscow Arts Commission are exploring options for a potential mural installation at the new stage planned for East City Park, with the public invited to provide input about the project theme by 5 p.m. on June 12, 2026.

At this time, the public is welcome to contribute a favorite story or memory of East City Park. Moscow Poet Laureate, Miriam Akervall, will reflect on these stories while writing a poem to prompt the mural artist. The poem will be incorporated into the call for mural artists, which is anticipated to be presented to City Council for consideration in late summer 2026.

Story submissions can be completed online: https://www.ci.moscow.id.us/FormCenter/Arts-24/2026-East-City-Park-Stories-223

🎉 NEW EXHIBITION 🎉

"Color and Process" features the work of printmakers Mike Sonnichsen and Kevin Haas, both based in Moscow, Idaho. Sonnichsen explores systems of geometry and color perception through layered, optically dynamic compositions, while Haas examines the infrastructures and technological systems that shape daily life. While their subject matter and visual forms vary, both artists engage with printmaking as a structured yet open process, where color, layering, repetition, and chance are fundamental to how meaning emerges.

The artist reception on June 13 from 4 – 6 p.m. coincides with the community-wide Artwalk event and will feature refreshments made by Sisters Cookies.

“Color and Process” will be on view at the Third Street Gallery from June 13 – September 4, 2026.

“In Stereo” Artist Spotlight:

Josie Cohen Rodriguez and Jules Diaz present a recorded live improvisation. Instruments used include guitar and vocals as well as found sounds from metal, glass, and plastic objects. The visuals juxtapose micro and macro elements from the turn of the 20th century. As an embodied practice, these audiovisual textures served as cathartic release–a composition of decomposition, undoing, and becoming undone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcnYGbGolwk

“In Stereo” will be available to view on the 2nd floor of the Third Street Gallery until May 29, 2026.

“In Stereo” Artist Spotlight:

The collaboration between Jonah Radeke and Gianna Starble features photographs taken on Kodak film with a Pentax 6x7 medium format camera, fitted with a panoramic conversion kit. Photos are paired with a flash fiction story and piano score that were written in response to the photographs. Together, the project aims to q***r the landscape of the Palouse by creating a cinematic experience through narrative and music: https://samply.app/p/ShVk4WEVVV7K3GXYVqCZ?si=of9TvzqszidVUI9ddjvyP6qDAM93

“In Stereo” Artist Spotlight:

Corey Oglesby & Devin Becker created “Paired/Impaired” which explores the "exquisite co**se" method—a process of blind, line-by-line collaboration. Each poem is a reactive exchange where writers respond to their partner’s previous line through rhythm, sound, or thematic tension. The goal was to produce works that stand independently yet remain fundamentally inseparable from the collaborative act.

“In Stereo” will be available to view on the 2nd floor of the Third Street Gallery until May 29, 2026.
