🚜 Huge climate smart farm equipment cost share opportunity with Washington State Department of Agriculture! First come, first served. Qualifying cost share includes:

🌾 Items that directly decrease greenhouse gas emissions during production, or increase soil or vegetative carbon storage, including equipment with established GHG reduction estimates recognized by USDA. Examples include, but are not limited to: No-till drills, electric tractors, compost spreaders, electric pumps, and GPS precision ag equipment.

🌾 Equipment supporting innovative or emerging practices with scientific evidence of GHG reduction potential, even if not yet represented in USDA models (applicants requesting these items are more competitive when supporting citations and literature are submitted).

🌾 Delivery costs associated with eligible equipment.

Our Heritage Garden team is amazing! 🌾✨

Thank you Columbia Basin Herald for featuring our recent Heritage Garden class co-hosted with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Moses Lake. We had a fantastic turnout and can’t wait to see more native, low water use plants in the Basin.

If you have questions or need help choosing plants for a drought resistant garden, contact Yazmin or Dinah with Columbia Basin Conservation District. We’re here to help!

MOSES LAKE — Heritage gardens, with native, drought-resistant plants, aren’t just nice to look at, they’re economical, and they make a difference when the water bill rolls around, said Columbia Basin Conservation District Conservation Director Dinah Rouleau at a class hosted jointly by the CBC...

MOSES LAKE — New monitoring data is providing some of the clearest evidence yet that a multimillion-dollar effort to reduce phosphorus and algae in Moses Lake is producing measurable results.

When conservation districts share ideas, resources, challenges, and successes, we’re simply able to get more meaningful conservation on the ground. And that’s what our recent collaboration with Spokane Conservation District is all about.

We’re especially excited about one tangible outcome of our recent visits: welcoming Spokane CD as a new partner in the Odessa Groundwater Replacement Program (OGWRP). Together, we’ll be working to bring the Spokane CD’s Bio Farming Group outreach and expertise to Odessa-area producers, adding another important layer of soil health support as these farms transition from deep groundwater to Columbia River surface water.

After decades of reliance on the declining Odessa Subarea Aquifer, many of these agricultural soils have been impacted by poor groundwater quality, including elevated salts and minerals associated with increasingly deep groundwater wells. Groundwater replacement creates an incredible opportunity not only to conserve the aquifer, but also to help producers restore soil health, strengthen their operations, and build greater agricultural resilience for the future.

And a huge thank you to Jon Erickson and the East Columbia Basin Irrigation District for providing a fantastic tour of the OGWRP and sharing your knowledge with our partners. As always, we’re grateful for your continued help and support!

Great conservation happens through great partnerships. And we’re excited about what we can accomplish together. 💦
