Governor Evers historically uses Friday for his vetoes in hopes that attention to his misery is minimal and, when it is really bad, the Friday leading into holiday weekends. When Governor Evers vetoed no taxes on tips and overtime yesterday, he stopped another nearly $600 million from flowing into the pockets of hardworking Wisconsinites through 2028. To make it worse, on the same day, he cemented his 400 year property tax increase, literally saying in his veto explanation, “My 400-year veto is here to stay, lawmakers. Just fund our public schools and get over it.” Just last summer, he praised legislative republicans for historic investments in public education. Hypocritical and shameful.

While I know Governor Evers likes to put the squeeze to hardworking Wisconsinites and property taxpayers, which was reaffirmed today when he vetoed GOP bills to exempt taxes on tips and overtime, refusing to shield our children from harmful online content cannot be explained. I was proud to second author this bill, and I hope to bring it back under a new governor.

We’re saddened that on Good Friday, Governor Tony Evers vetoed legislation that would have protected children from po*******hy in Wisconsin.

This legislation had overwhelming bipartisan and public support. In Governor Evers’ veto he turned his back on kids and the will of the people.

Wisconsin Family Action will remain steadfast in providing pro parent and child solutions like AB 105.

It’s time for Wisconsin to elect a Governor who will be pro-kid and make the will of the people the law of the land.
