Mosinee Fire District

Mosinee Fire District The Mosinee Fire District exists to provide emergency services to the City of Mosinee and Townships of Mosinee, Knowlton, Bergen, and Emmet.

The Mosinee Fire District is a combination emergency response department. A full-time Fire Chief works weekdays and a full-time Deputy Chief and Captain work 6 AM - 6 PM, alternating 4 days on and 4 days off. Remaining hours are covered by Paid-On Call Firefighter/EMTs.

The Mosinee Fire District had the honor of leading the 18th annual Andy Hitt Memorial ride through town today. The Brother's By Choice MC helps raise money for fundraisers, toys drives, they support local vets and scholarships for the Mosinee High School, a community involved group of veterans. Last evening during our combined department drill, Mosinee Fire District crews had the opportunity to tour the new addition at Mosinee High School.

The tour gave our members a chance to become familiar with the new layout, access points, building features, and areas we may need to navigate during an emergency. Pre-incident familiarization like this is an important part of our training and helps our crews respond more safely and efficiently when every second counts.

A big thank you to the Mosinee School District for taking the time to show our crews through the new addition and helping us stay familiar with the buildings in our community.

Today, Great Lakes Testing, Inc. – Fire Division was at the Mosinee Fire District completing our annual ground ladder testing.

Ground ladders are one of the most basic tools in the fire service, but when they’re needed, our firefighters depend on them to perform safely and reliably. Annual testing helps identify damage, excessive deflection, hardware problems, or other issues that may not be noticeable during a routine visual inspection.

Our ground ladders are inspected and tested in accordance with NFPA 1932, helping ensure they remain safe, dependable, and ready for service.

During testing, each ladder is placed under a controlled load for a specified period of time. Measurements are taken before and after the test to ensure the ladder remains within allowable limits and shows no signs of permanent damage or hardware failure.

🚒 EMS Training | Mosinee Fire District 🚑

Last evening, our EMS crew had the opportunity to work alongside our local high school athletic trainer on an important scenario involving a possible spinal injury on the football field.

Crews practiced techniques for safely removing a football helmet and shoulder pads while maintaining proper spinal stabilization and protecting the athlete from further injury.

These situations require teamwork, communication, and coordination between EMS personnel and athletic staff. Training together before an emergency happens helps ensure everyone is prepared to provide the safest and most effective care when it matters most.

A big thank you to our local high school athletic trainer for sharing their knowledge and working with our crews!

❤️ CHAOS CRUSHES CANCER ❤️

This past Saturday, members of the Mosinee Fire District had the opportunity to participate in the Chaos Crushes Cancer Kickball Tournament, an incredible event bringing our community together in support of Joel Lingl and Dianna Liedtke and their families.

Our members put together a team and hit the field for some friendly competition, while others tested their skills in the Longest Kick Competition. And, of course, one of the highlights of the day was the “Pie a Coach” fundraiser. 🥧😂

Several of our officers found themselves on the receiving end of a pie after being signed up by their fellow members without their knowledge. Apparently, no one is safe when there’s money to be raised for a great cause! The officers were good sports, the crowd got some laughs, and, most importantly, it helped raise even more money for Joel and Dianna.

While there were plenty of laughs throughout the day, what stood out most was the tremendous amount of community support. Seeing friends, families, businesses, first responders, volunteers, and community members come together for two local families was truly something special.

A huge thank you to everyone who organized the event, volunteered, sponsored, donated, played, participated in the competitions, threw a pie—or took one to the face!

Joel and Dianna, this past Saturday made one thing very clear: you have an entire community standing behind you. Keep fighting, we’re with you! ❤️💪

Last night, the Mosinee Fire District Board, officially swore in Cody Wiesman as the Fire Chief of the Mosinee Fire District. Chief Wiesman has been filling this role for over a year and has already been making positive changes and advancements within the department. Chief Wiesman brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. He values the members and the time that is dedicated to the Fire Department. With new leadership, comes new goals and new ideas. We look forward to the positive and professional direction that we are moving in.

🍋 Green Shift Supporting Our Community! 🚒

While out in the community last week, Green Shift came across a fresh lemonade stand and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to stop for a cold drink and support some local young entrepreneurs!

It’s always great getting a chance to interact with the kids and families in the community we serve. Thanks for the refreshing lemonade and hospitality! 🍋🚒

On Saturday August 15th, the Mosinee Fire Department was dispatched for a structure fire in the City of Mosinee. At the time of the call, an engine crew, command vehicle and both ambulances were staged at Desert Park for a cancer benefit. The call was 3 blocks away. A scene size up from Car 1 found smoke coming from a vent pipe and the eves of the house on the A side. Engine 1 established water from a close by hydrant. Home owners stated the fire was in the basement. Crews entered the basement with a charged line. The crew reported that the visibility conditions were zero. A thermal imaging camera was used to find the fire and extinguishment started. The fire was quickly brought under control. Crews from Riverside Fire District, Kronenwetter Fire Department, and the SAFER District assisted with secondary searches and ventilation and overhaul. Due to the quick response and knock down, damage was minimized. Fun fact, one of our youngest members is now able to say he now has his first knock down on a structure fire. Thank you to our auto aid partners for their support!!! We are happy to report no injuries and a family cat was rescued, treated and released to the owners.
