💨🔥🚒💦👍It was a very busy shift for the City of Moss Point Fire Department’s “C-Shift.”
In this heat, one structure fire alone is enough to leave firefighters completely exhausted. At approximately 1:30 p.m., MPFD responded to a report of a shed on fire on Kreole Ave. Upon arrival, crews found a large shed heavily involved in fire, with multiple exposures threatened, including an RV and a passenger vehicle. Crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading. No civilians were injured; however, two firefighters were treated on scene for heat exhaustion.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., shortly after returning to service from the first structure fire, MPFD responded to a report of a house fire on First St. Upon arrival, smoke could be seen coming from the eaves and gable vents.
After receiving information from the homeowner that multiple animals were trapped inside, fire attack crews entered the structure and performed a primary search. Firefighters successfully rescued all of the animals, which included snakes, rabbits, and mice.
The fire was contained to the attic. Due to the location of the fire, firefighters performed a roof breach to gain more effective access and extinguish the flames. Crews were able to successfully extinguish the fire in the attic, saving the living area of the home from significant fire damage.
Three additional firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion following the First St. fire.
This heat has been unrelenting lately, but your Moss Point firefighters never quit.
