We would like to congratulate three of our own for completing the Hazmat Awareness and operations class at the state fire academy yesterday! Firefighter Kyle Watkins, Lt. Micheal Litton, and TO Mason Boudreaux completed this 3 week class in preparation for their NFPA 1010 class. Thank you guys for your continued education and dedication to serving the citizens of Jackson County.

Today, we lay our fellow firefighter, Kevin Daugherty, to rest. We will honor your service, friendship, and the examples you set as a faithful public servant for the past 20 years.

Thank you for being a husband, a father, a friend, and our brother through it all.

Kevin fought bravely and courageously with his head held high despite great challenges throughout his journey.

We will never forget you and hope to see you again one day!

🔥🚒 Friday – Firefighter Fact of the Day 🚒🔥
Firefighters often work 24-hour shifts 😳
That means eating, sleeping, and responding to emergencies—all in one day!

👨‍🚒 Yes… we can go from dead asleep to on a call in seconds!

🔥🚒 Thursday – Firefighter Fact of the Day 🚒🔥
Smoke is actually more dangerous than the fire itself 😷
It can make you unconscious in just a few breaths!

🚨 That’s why we say: Get low and go!

Our hearts are heavy as we stand alongside the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department during this unimaginable loss. Today, we honor the life, service, and sacrifice of a fallen deputy who gave so much to protect and serve their community.

In times like these, the bond between first responders runs deep. We are more than agencies — we are family. And when one of us hurts, we all feel it.

Please keep the deputy’s family, friends, and our brothers and sisters at the Sheriff’s Department in your thoughts and prayers in the days ahead.

Rest easy, Deputy. We’ll take it from here. 🖤🚔🚒

🚨🚒 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM YOUR LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT 🚒🚨

Starting today, all residents are required to conduct a daily “hose drill” at home.

This includes:
💧 Turning on your garden hose
💧 Spinning in a circle at least 3 times
💧 Yelling “WATER ON THE FIRE!” as loud as possible

Failure to comply may result in one of our firefighters showing up to personally supervise your training… and we take our drills VERY seriously. 😏

In other news, we will also be replacing all fire trucks with bicycles to “promote cardio readiness.” 🚲🔥

Stay safe, stay prepared… and don’t forget to practice!

…or just remember what day it is 😉

😂 Happy April Fools’ Day from your Fire Department! 🚒

🔥🚒 Wednesday – Firefighter Fact of the Day 🚒🔥
Firefighters don’t just fight fires—they respond to medical calls, car wrecks, rescues, and more 🚑

❓ What do you think firefighters respond to MOST?
A) Fires
😎 Medical Calls

🔥🚒 Tuesday – Firefighter Fact of the Day 🚒🔥
A fire truck can hold 500–1,000+ gallons of water 💧
…but that can be used up in just minutes during a fire!

🔥🚒 Monday – Firefighter Fact of the Day 🚒🔥
Firefighters wear about 45 pounds of gear when responding to a call! 😳
That’s like carrying a small child while working in extreme heat!

❓ Could you handle that kind of weight? YES or NO ⬇️

We would like to take a minute to thank all of our supporters throughout all of our communities that we serve! We completed our gun raffle today at Old Fashion Day in Hurley with one lucky winner. Our friends showed out and we were able to raise money to help the family of one of our own. Thanks again for all of your support for the Yates family as they continue their cancer journey and please continue to keep Ryleigh and her family in your prayers!
