Members of the Mottville Volunteer Fire Company gathered in front of Ladder 38 Sunday afternoon before stepping off for the Skaneateles Field Days Labor Day Parade.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support and generosity of our community. More than two dozen MVFC members proudly took part in the parade, representing the department and the volunteers who are always ready to answer the call.

Representing Mottville were UTV 38, Ladder 38, Engine 2, and Squad 5.

Thank you to everyone who came out to watch, wave, and show your support. Your encouragement means more to our volunteers than you know.

From all of us at the Mottville Volunteer Fire Company — thank you, Skaneateles, for continuing to support your volunteer firefighters!

A week after responding mutual aid to a basement fire in the Jordan Fire District, our members spent their regular Monday drill in the smokehouse working through a number of evolutions focused on Vent-Enter-Search (VES), a firefighting rescue tactic used to quickly locate and remove occupants from a structure.

Members practiced breaching doors, deploying and working from ground ladders, and using specific tools and techniques to gain access, ventilate the structure, and conduct searches.

It was a beautiful day in Marcellus, with 38 teams hitting the course and helping raise funds to support the MVFC.

A huge thank-you to all of our event sponsors, participants, and dedicated volunteers who helped make the day a success and kept everything running smoothly.

We truly appreciate your continued support of the Company and our community!

Yesterday evening, members of the Mottville Volunteer Fire Company (MVFC) gathered at the firehouse for our weekly drill, training on cross-lay hose line deployment using Engine 2.

At approximately 20:00 hours, that training was interrupted when MVFC was dispatched mutual aid to the Jordan Fire District for a reported residential fire on North Main Street. First-due units arrived to find heavy smoke and an active fire in the basement, with Jordan Command declaring a Signal 98.

MVFC responded with Car 1 (Chief Baker), Engine 2, and a total of eight personnel. Once on scene, MVFC firefighters worked inside the residence, locating and isolating an electrical issue while also assisting with ventilation operations.

Additional mutual aid was provided by the Elbridge, Weedsport, and North West Fire Districts.

We're proud of our members for being prepared to put their training into action on a moment's notice. Even on drill night, the work doesn't stop.

At 14:20 hours on Thursday, August 13, 2026, the Mottville Volunteer Fire Company (MVFC) was dispatched to State Street Road and the Baxter Driveway for a reported fuel spill. Members of the NY State Police and NYSDEC Spill Response Team also responded. A UPS tractor-trailer exiting the Baxter Campus suffered a broken drive shaft, leaving the cab blocking the southbound lane of Route 321, and ripping 2 fuel lines off the truck chassis.

MVFC responded with Cars 1 and 4, Squad 3, and Engine 2. Fire Police personnel managed traffic flow on Route 321. MVFC firefighters plugged the 2 broken fuel lines and used containment berms, absorbent pads, Speedie Dry, and peat sorb to soak up the approximately 40-50 gallons of residual diesel. All of the spilled diesel was contained and prevented from going into any ponds or streams.

MVFC personnel remained on scene for a little over an hour before clearing the scene and returning to service.
