Join us on Saturday, June 13, from 9:30–10:30 AM for a hands-on introduction to succulents with library board member Lori McAllister.

This class will cover the basics of succulent care and planting. Each participant will plant their own succulent to take home, and all supplies will be provided.

Even if you already have a growing collection of houseplants, this class is a great opportunity to join us for our summer reading program and see what all we have going on at the library this summer. Each participant will get a chance to win one of our prizes.

Garrett Memorial Library will be closed on Saturday, May 23, through Monday, May 25, for Memorial Day. We will reopen as usual on Tuesday, May 26.

Summer is fast approaching, and our June & July Summer Reading calendars are finally here!

This year’s Summer Reading Program theme is 🌱 Plant a Seed, Read! 🌱 and we have a variety of programs planned for all ages throughout the summer.

This summer’s schedule includes:
• Two Summer Day Camps in partnership with the Davis County Extension Office
• Events for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, kids, teens, families, and adults
• Hands-on maker activities, STEM fun, a live animal program, and LEGO Club
• Saturday nature programs (for ages 12+)
• Community history discussions
• Grab & Go Craft activities
• Reading logs, BINGO sheets, and prize drawings!
• A Community-wide Celebration at the end of our summer program

Summer Reading participants can earn prizes by reading, attending programs, and completing activities. We’ll have four age groups for grand prizes this year.

📌 Calendars will be sent home with local students this week. You can also pick up copies at the library.

We are planning a summer filled with stories, creativity, hands-on activities, farm-to-table learning, and more!

We’re excited to partner with local organizations to bring a variety of fun programs to the library this summer. Library staff is currently finalizing program details and schedules.

Summer Reading calendars will be shared with local students during the last week of school and posted online soon.
