Sheriff Rod Howell would like to introduce Colquitt County to the newest Deputies of the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office family: Deputies King, Guerra, and Howard! These three deputies recently graduated from the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Tifton after successfully completing the 16-week Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy.

With the academy behind them, Deputies King, Guerra and Howard are ready to take the next step and begin serving the citizens of Colquitt County out in our community. We are proud to welcome them back from the academy and look forward to seeing them grow in their careers while protecting and serving the people who call Colquitt County home. A big THANK YOU to the Sutton Families and Sutton Systems Sales, Inc. for once again stepping up and partnering with the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Foundation!

Support from local businesses like Sutton Systems Sales allows our Foundation to provide additional resources for the men and women of the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office while keeping those dollars right here in our community.

And here’s the part we want more people and businesses to know about:

Through Georgia’s LESS Crime Act, eligible taxpayers can contribute to a Qualified Law Enforcement Foundation like ours and receive a Georgia state income tax credit for the approved contribution. In other words, instead of simply sending those tax dollars to Atlanta, the program gives eligible taxpayers an opportunity to direct them toward supporting law enforcement right here in Colquitt County.

The Sutton Families and Sutton Systems Sales, Inc. are helping lead the way, and we hope other local businesses and individuals will consider joining them.

If you own a business, pay Georgia income taxes, or simply want to learn more about how the LESS Crime Act works, we would love to talk with you. Now is the time to start planning your 2026 contribution.

Thank you again to the Sutton Families and Sutton Systems Sales, Inc. for investing in our community and supporting the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Foundation.

Support local. Support law enforcement. Put your Georgia tax dollars to work in Colquitt County.

If you are interested in the Sheriff's Foundation, don't hesitate to reach out to Sheriff Rod Howell or Lt. Ronald Jordan of the Sheriff's Office.

Next Saturday August 8th! Hope to see you there!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“You Don’t Owe Strangers a Response”

The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind parents that June is Internet Safety Month.

With summer break underway and children spending more time online, we, along with our partners at ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children), want to remind families of the importance of internet safety. Take time to talk with your children about the dangers that can exist online and remind them not to interact with people they do not know.

A simple but important message for children is: You Don’t Owe Strangers a Response. Stranger danger still exists today—it has simply become easier for predators to reach children through the internet, social media, gaming platforms, and messaging apps.

Please help us keep our children safe by having open conversations about online safety and encouraging responsible internet use.

We are also sharing information about an upcoming public webinar on June 23 at 2:00 PM. The webinar will focus on video games and your child, discussing potential risks, warning signs, and red flags that parents should be aware of. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend if possible.

The registration link can be found directly above the attached flyer.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our children safe. We hope everyone has a fun, safe, and happy summer!

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office Deploying Mobile Security Trailer for Crime Prevention Efforts

Moultrie, GA — The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office is announcing the deployment of a new mobile security trailer equipped with advanced video recording technology that will be placed throughout Colquitt County as part of ongoing crime prevention and public safety efforts.

The security trailer will be strategically positioned in various locations across the county, including neighborhoods, business districts, community events, and other high-traffic areas. The trailer is equipped with high-definition surveillance cameras capable of recording video to assist deputies in deterring criminal activity and investigating crimes when they occur.

Sheriff’s Office officials say the mobile unit is intended to serve as both a visible deterrent to criminal behavior and an additional tool to help protect residents, visitors, and local businesses.

“This technology allows us to enhance our presence throughout the county and provide another layer of security for our communities,” the Sheriff’s Office stated. “By placing the trailer in different areas, we hope to discourage criminal activity while also strengthening our ability to identify and prosecute offenders.”

The locations of the trailer may change periodically based on community and business needs, crime trends, and special events.

Below you will see a stock photo of the trailer and a photo of the actual trailer hooked to one of our investigator vehicles.
