GEORGIA WEAPONS CARRY LICENSES (GWCL)
Requirements:
• Applicants must complete the online application at www.georgiaprobaterecords.com
Once completed, you will need to call the court to make an appointment.
• Driver’s License/Identification card. Your current Colquitt County street address must be on your identification.
• Be at least 21 years of age (unless active military; must show proof)
Fees: (includes fingerprinting and background costs)
• New Applicants - $74.00
• Renewal Applicants - $30.00
• Retired Law Enforcement -$7.00
Veterans (must show proof)
• New Applicants - $54.00
• Renewal Applicants - $10.00
Replacement License - $6.00
We accept cash, checks, money orders, and debit/credit cards. Debit/credit cards has a convenience fee of 4.7%.
RENEWAL APPLICANTS
If you have not received a renewal letter in the mail from us, please start the online application at
www.georgiaprobaterecords.com.
Once completed, you will need to call the court to make an appointment.

MARRIAGE LICENSES
Requirements:
• Applicants must complete the application online at www.georgiaprobaterecords.com. At the end, it will prompt you to call the court and make an appointment to complete the process.
• Both applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
• Show identification.
• If either applicant has been previously married and the marriage was dissolved by divorce or annulment, a copy of the decree of divorce or annulment. If the last marriage ended due to the death of spouse, a copy of the death certificate.
• An adult interpreter if either party does not speak English.
Fees:
• $77.00 without premarital counseling
• $37.00 with premarital counseling
(documentation must be provided)
We accept cash, checks, money orders, and debit/credit cards. Debit/credit cards have a convenience fee of 4.7%.
Applicant’s will still need to provide their identification as well as final divorce decree and/or previous spouse’s death certificate when they come to the court to finalize their application process.

Colquitt County Probate Court will not text, email, or call you regarding your Georgia Weapons Carry License. These scams urge you to renew your Georgia Weapons Carry License before it’s too late. These texts, emails, and calls did not originate from Colquitt County Probate Court.
Additionally, links on various websites indicating that you need certification before applying for a weapons carry license are deceptive. There is no certification required in Georgia to obtain a weapons license.

You should be cautious about clicking links on websites, text messages, and emails stating information about Georgia Weapons Carry Licenses.

The Judicial Council of Georgia Office of Research and Data Analysis recently recognized the Colquitt County Probate Court as a Clearance Rate Excellence Award recipient for the 2022 assessment year. Georgia has 159 counties with the same number of Probate Courts. Colquitt County Probate Court ranks in the top 15 in meeting or exceeding a 100% or better with Georgia.

This award recognizes the top 10% of courts in each class of court that demonstrate exceptional performance in maintaining clearance rates, a key indicator of a court’s ability to effectively manage its caseload. A clearance rate of 100% or higher demonstrates a court ability to resolve at least as many cases as were filed each year.

Colquitt County Probate Court staff strives to provide excellent service in all aspects including case management, case resolution, and the highest standard of customer service.
