Tuesday night, the Moultrie City Council recognized two outstanding members of the Moultrie Police Department as they reached five years of service and received their Professional Commitment Awards, presented by Mayor William McIntosh.
We are incredibly proud to recognize Sgt. Jontavius Randall and Sgt. Nathan Cato for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the citizens of Moultrie.
Sgt. Randall has spent his entire law enforcement career with the Moultrie Police Department. During his five years with the department, he has earned an Associate’s Degree, his Intermediate Certification, and certification as a Field Training Officer. He has also completed more than 1,000 hours of specialized training. Sgt. Randall currently serves as a shift supervisor in our Patrol Division, where he continues to lead, mentor, and serve his fellow officers and our community.
Sgt. Cato brought a unique law enforcement background to Moultrie. His career began through his service in the United States Air Force, followed by obtaining his civilian law enforcement certification in 2015. For the past five years, he has proudly served the citizens of Moultrie. Like Sgt. Randall, Sgt. Cato has completed more than 1,000 hours of specialized training and currently serves as a Criminal Investigator, where his experience, training, and dedication are invaluable to our Criminal Investigation Division.
Five years is more than a date on a calendar. It represents countless hours, difficult calls, long nights, training, sacrifice, and a commitment to serving others.
Congratulations, Sgt. Randall and Sgt. Cato! We appreciate your service, your professionalism, and everything you do for the Moultrie Police Department and the citizens we are privileged to serve.
Thank you to Mayor McIntosh and the Moultrie City Council for recognizing these two outstanding officers and for supporting our department and its people.

GOOD NEWS! PAVING IS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE!

Crews are ahead of schedule and will be repaving Industrial Drive from the roundabout at Adel Highway (SR 37) to 1st Avenue SE beginning Monday, August 31, through Friday, September 4.
Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed by next Friday!
The street will not be completely closed, but traffic will be reduced to one lane, with traffic control directing vehicles through the work zone. Please expect possible delays of several minutes and, if possible, consider avoiding the area while crews are working.

🏆 Celebrating Excellence in Historic Preservation! 🏆
The City of Moultrie is incredibly proud to celebrate Susana and Alan Torres and their well-deserved 2026 Award of Excellence for Outstanding Historic Preservation from the Georgia Downtown Association for the restoration of Rocco’s Ristorante at the Theatre!
Susana and Alan have beautifully transformed this historic building from ceiling to floors while honoring the character and history that make it so special. From exposing the original brick walls to bringing the historic theatre marquee inside as a stunning focal point, every detail reflects a deep appreciation for the building’s roots and its place in our community.
We are especially honored that so many of our City leaders and officials came out to celebrate this incredible achievement. Our Mayor, City Manager, City Councilwomen, and nearly every City department head made sure to be there to cheer Susana and Alan on and celebrate this special moment with them.
That kind of support is what makes our community so special. We are proud to stand behind the people who invest in our downtown, preserve our history, and help make Moultrie a wonderful place to live, work, and visit.

Join us for our 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Saturday, September 12, beginning at 8:00 AM at Mack Tharpe Stadium. This meaningful event is open to the public and offers an opportunity for our community to come together to honor and remember the lives lost and the heroes who served on September 11, 2001.

The waiver and release attached must be filled out to participate.

Mayor William McIntosh has signed a proclamation, officially declaring today, August 11, 2026, as 811 Day in the City of Moultrie.

The City of Moultrie has partnered with Georgia 811 to promote 811 Day each August, coinciding with the onset of peak digging season. The initiative was designed to heighten contractor and homeowner awareness of the national 811 notification system. By calling 811, Moultrie residents notify area utility operators, including the City of Moultrie, of their intent to dig so that the utilities can be located ahead of the project. The 811 notification system is paramount to the prevention of damage to underground utilities and the safety of Moultrie residents.

🚧 Industrial Drive is back open! 🚧

The railroad track removal project has been completed, and Industrial Drive is once again open to traffic. Thank you to everyone for your patience while this work was underway!

This is just the first step in improving the roadway. As part of the larger project, we plan to repave Industrial Drive in September from the roundabout at Adel Highway (SR 37) to 1st Avenue SE, giving the corridor a smoother, safer driving surface. Repaving should take around one week to complete.
