Tonight the Mound City Council will review the final plans and construction documents for the proposed Water Treatment Plant and vote on whether or not to send the project out for bids.

Sending the project out for bids is similar to getting a quote or estimate from interested contractors. This does not obligate the City to accept bids but gives the Council more information on the project's cost.

You might ask "Why is my water discolored?" or "Why does hydrant flushing cause water discoloration?"
➡️ Water in Mound is not treated to remove minerals like iron, which can cause build up in the City's infrastructure and in your home pipes.
➡️Iron which is safe to drink can stain your home water fixture and cause discolored water.
➡️The ongoing water treatment infrastructure project replaces these pipes in preparation for a Water Treatment Plant which would remove minerals and containments like iron and manganese.
➡️If a Water Treatment Plant is constructed residents could see clearer water in just a few years
