There is a possibility of a brief power outage this afternoon while crews make a quick repair. The affected area may include the 500 blocks between Ruth and Lincoln, from Christian Street to Drucilla Street, with a possibility of extending from Hoch Street to Krehbiel Street as well.

Ordinance No. 1049 updates the City of Moundridge’s regulations regarding cross connections and backflow prevention to help protect the city’s public water supply from contamination.

Key points:

Repeals portions of previous Ordinance No. 652 and amends Chapter XV, Article 2, Section 15-206 of city code.
Reinforces the city’s adoption of the Uniform Plumbing Code (2009 Edition).
Continues the city’s inspection and control program for identifying and eliminating plumbing cross connections and backflow risks.
Gives the Superintendent of Utilities (or designee) authority to inspect buildings connected to the public water system during reasonable hours to ensure plumbing systems meet safety standards.
Property owners, lessees, or occupants must provide requested information about plumbing systems and water supply connections during inspections.
The purpose is to reduce the risk of contamination to Moundridge’s public water supply by ensuring proper plumbing installation and ongoing inspection.

Heads up, residents! The City has contracted with a tree trimming crew that will be working in the southeast quadrant of town, specifically along Washington Street, this weekend. If time allows, they may also work in other areas.
