During Police Officers Week, Moundridge EMS would like to give a huge shoutout to the officers of the Moundridge Police Department 🚓💙

Being a police officer in a small town isn’t always easy. In a close-knit community like ours, the job comes with unique challenges...serving people you know personally, making tough decisions, and showing up every single day with professionalism and heart.

We especially want to recognize and thank you for always showing up for us. So often, on the calls that feel uncertain or a little sketchy, you’re already there.....or on your way, making sure we’re safe without even having to be asked. That kind of awareness, teamwork, and support means more than we can put into words.

The job isn’t always glamorous (and we know the paperwork alone deserves its own award), but your dedication to protecting and serving Moundridge never goes unnoticed.

Our town is lucky to have officers who care deeply about this community and the people in it. Your service, sacrifice, and willingness to stand beside us makes all the difference.

🍩 **Public Service Announcement** 🍩

Contrary to popular belief… cops aren’t always the ones with the donuts. 😅

At today’s Pine Village Easter Egg Hunt, local firefighters were spotted stepping in and taking on that responsibility very seriously…..leaving one Hometown Hero on scene with zero donuts and a whole lot of bad luck. 🚔

We can confirm: stereotypes were broken, donuts were eaten, and the officer is still recovering emotionally.

Today, Jana B. and Miranda are out at the Hutchinson Community College Career Fair representing Moundridge EMS—and doing an amazing job showing students what a career in EMS is all about!

From life-saving skills to being the calm in someone’s worst moment, EMS isn’t just a job—it’s a calling. Every shift brings something new, and every call is a chance to make a real difference in someone’s life.

Moundridge EMS, along with our local area SRT Team and other local agencies, will be conducting live training at Moundridge High School this evening. There is NO DANGER — this is for TRAINING PURPOSES ONLY. Training will begin around 5:00 PM and conclude by 8:00 PM. Shoutout to our girl Jana B who has delivered (or assisted with delivering) THREE out-of-hospital babies in the last month! 👶👶👶

That’s 2 beautiful baby girls 💕 and 1 handsome baby boy 💙 — all arriving before they could make it to the hospital.

At this point we’re considering adding “Frequent Stork Miles” to her resume.
Jana shows up calm, capable, and ready for anything — even surprise birthdays 🎉. We are so proud of the compassion and skill she brings to every call.

❤️ Could YOU save a life with just your hands? February is Heart Health Month!

An emergency can happen anywhere — at a ballgame, at work, at church, at home, or right here on Main Street. When someone’s heart stops, every second matters… and YOU can make the difference before EMS arrives.

Moundridge EMS is sharing the American Heart Association’s Hands-Only CPR video to show you how simple it can be to step in and help when it matters most. No mouth-to-mouth. Just call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest.

* Take a few minutes to watch this video.
*Share it with your friends and family.
* Talk with your loved ones about where the closest AED is in places you frequent.

We’re proud to serve this community — but remember, bystanders are often the true first responders. Your actions could save the life of a neighbor, friend, or family member.

🚨 **Cold Weather Advisory – Please Read** 🚨

Dangerous cold is heading our way. Forecasted wind chills of 10–20 degrees BELOW zero are likely Friday morning through Monday morning, with the coldest temps expected Saturday and Sunday mornings. A few spots in central Kansas could even dip below -20°. 🥶
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for this entire time.

We know… snow forecasts can sometimes be a little dramatic — but these temperatures are VERY real and absolutely not a joke. Cold like this can cause frostbite in minutes.

Another quick reminder from your friendly EMS crew:
4-wheel drive may help you get over a hump of snow, but it does **NOT** help you stop on ice, It also does nothing to protect you from freezing temps if you end up stranded

Please:
• Limit unnecessary travel
• Don't attempt to shovel driveways if you have stability issues on dry land
• Check on elderly neighbors and pets
• Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle if you absolutely have to be out

Stay safe, stay warm, and let’s all make it through this Snowmageddon without needing a visit from us. 💙

Today is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day 💙

We are incredibly grateful for the Moundridge Police Department and the outstanding individuals who protect our small town every day. Though we may be a small community, we are supported by a strong department made up of officers with many years of combined and diverse experience.

Thank you for your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to keeping Moundridge safe. A special shout-out to Meeka, our amazing K-9 officer, for her service and partnership alongside our officers 🐾💙.

We appreciate all that you do—today and every day.

As we get ready to ring in the New Year, we want to remind everyone to make safe choices when celebrating. New Year’s Eve is consistently one of the deadliest nights on Kansas roadways, with impaired driving playing a major role in serious injuries and fatalities.

If your plans include alcohol, make a plan before the night begins:
💡Choose a designated driver
⏰Stay the night where you are

No celebration is worth a life — yours or someone else’s.
