Today at 6:09pm, FCVFD in our primary response area, was dispatched to a vehicle fire in the area of Critz Street off Toast Road.

FCVFD member arrived on scene within 2 minutes of dispatch and advised a working vehicle fire close to a structure. FCVFD Engine 1 arrived on scene shortly after.

Surry Communications automatically upgraded the response for a structure fire. Mount Airy Fire Department, Bannertown Volunteer Fire Department, and Four Way Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched and added to the call with FCVFD.

The vehicle fire was extinguished before any fire had extended to the structure.

FCVFD responded with 7 volunteers along with 2 engine’s and 1 tanker

Thankfully this did not extend to the structure and was contained to the vehicle.

It is with heavy hearts that Franklin Community Volunteer Fire Department mourns the loss of former firefighter Logan Utt, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while serving his community as a Sheriff’s Deputy.

Before his career in law enforcement, Logan proudly served as a part-time firefighter with Franklin Community Volunteer Fire Department. During his time with our department, he demonstrated the same dedication, courage, and commitment to helping others that he carried throughout his life.

The fire service and law enforcement communities share a common bond of service and sacrifice. Logan embodied those values every day, answering the call to protect and serve wherever he was needed. His unwavering commitment to his community and his fellow first responders will never be forgotten.

We extend our deepest condolences to Logan’s family, friends, fellow deputies, and all who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him. While words cannot ease the pain of this tremendous loss, we hope they find comfort in knowing that his life made a lasting impact on countless people.

Please join us in keeping the Utt family, his law enforcement family, and all those affected by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
