Time is flying by but don't let your chance to adopt a duck fly by as well. September 13th is the Great Mount Airy Duck Race and you could have a chance to win. See duck adoption options below.

Come by the Fire Company Carnival Grounds on the day of the event. Lots of food, games and activities starting at noon! Races begin at 2:00 p.m. This is a fun day for kids and adults alike. Even if you aren't available on the 13th, you can still have a duck(s) assigned to you for the race. This fundraiser benefits the Fire Company and the Mt. Airy Rotary Club. Both organizations wish to thank you for your support.

The Fire Company and Maryland Patriot Guard are back again this year with their Hero's Ride Poker Run. This event is always exciting with motorcycles, 50/50 raffle, quilt raffle and food and drinks for purchase. If you don't have a motorcycle, you can always stop by to see the riders off at 10:00 a.m. The location of this event is the Fire Company Carnival Grounds located at 1008 Twin Arch Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.

Calling all local businesses! Here's your chance to participate in the Duck Race. All you have to do is purchase a blank duck and follow the instructions on the flyer. Your business could have major bragging rights and a trophy to display to impress your customers.

Today at approximately 1:12 PM, Rescue 1 was alerted to assist units on scene of a working house fire in the 2700 Block of Old Washington Road. Rescue 1 assisted with opening up on division 1 and vented the roof. R1 returned to service after approximately 1 hour.

Do you have some artistic talent to show off or just want to show off? Here's your chance! Purchase a blank duck to decorate and bring it to the Duck Race on September 13th. You can purchase a duck at the Wednesday Farmer's Market in Watkins Park or at the Mt. Airy Walmart on Saturday mornings. It's lots of fun and the people attending the event will purchase tickets to vote for their favorites. Proceeds will benefit the Fire Company and the Mt. Airy Rotary Club.

Memories Charcoal House 16th Annual Fundraiser

We are excited to invite you to the16th Annual Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company Benefit at the Memories Charcoal House on Tuesday September 15th. Please join us for a wonderful evening filled with great food, good times, and casual entertainment all for a great cause. Memories will generously donate 10% of the entire day's sales to the MAVFC including lunch, dinner, drinks, and carry-outs from open until close. What a great opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal while supporting our local heroes!

The evening festivities will kick off at 6:00 pm where members of the fire company will be present with equipment and apparatus displays. They will also be selling 50/50 raffle tickets and ticket jars for a chance to in big prizes throughout the evening. keep an eye out for some surprise raffles as well.

We hope you will join us for a night of community spirit and fun. Thank you for your support of the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company!

The Great Mount Airy Duck Race

Now is the time to purchase your ducks for the annual Great Mount Airy Duck Race which is scheduled for Sunday September 13 at the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company Carnival Grounds opening at 1200 hours (12:00 noon). The races are sponsored by the Mount Airy Rotary Club and the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company as a fundraiser for both organizations. There will be races, food to purchase, and much more. This is a very entertaining event so if you have never attended the duck race you are in for treat!

Come out and support your local First Responders and the Rotary Club as both organizations work to make our community a better place.
