Everyone welcome Luise Laas, a university student from Estonia, Europe, to Mount Ayr! She is doing a summer exchange program selling educational books and apps for families from young toddler age, all the way to college prep.
Luise has acquired her peddler's permit and will be in town today (July 27) and tomorrow July (28), so if you see her feel free to say hi!

City Hall will be closed in observance of the Fourth of July! We will open again at 7:30 on July 6. Have a safe and happy Independence Day!

Utility Billing Update!!

When we ran bills on Thursday, June 18 our staff identified a computer system error that caused many bills to show incorrect water and sewer usage. We have been working with our software company since then to resolve the issue. New bills are going out today and will be due on July 10th.

Everyone with an account will get a printed bill this month (Autopay will still run like normal!) and a survey about garbage services. We would really appreciate it if you would complete the survey and return it to City Hall.

The City of Mount Ayr is evaluating options for providing trash and recycling services, including whether to continue providing these services directly or contract with a private provider. The goal is to reduce costs, maintain or improve service levels, and allow City staff to focus on critical infrastructure needs.

Your feedback is important and will help guide future decisions. Paper surveys are being mailed with utility bills and may be returned to City Hall, or you can complete the survey online.

Due to the large amount of brush and storm debris from last week’s storms, brush pickup will continue tomorrow, Friday, May 29, and may extend into Monday as well.
