The current Fire Tax Levy expires with 2021 being the last collection year for the levy. The Fire Levy on the special election ballot for May 4th will start for collection year 2022; however, it had to be worded as an Additional Tax Levy, even though it will be the only Fire Tax Levy in place if passed. Here is the wording for the new levy on the special election ballot:

PROPOSED TAX LEVY (ADDITIONAL)
DELAWARE TOWNSHIP, HANCOCK COUNTY, OHIO
O.R.C. §§5705.03 & 5705.19(I)
A Majority Affirmative Vote Is Necessary For Passage.

An additional tax for the benefit of Delaware Township, Hancock County, Ohio, for fire protection, specifically, for the general operation of the fire department and the purchase of firefighting vehicles, fire apparatus and related equipment, at a rate not exceeding 2.5 mills for each One Dollar ($1.00) of valuation which amounts to twenty-five cents ($.25) for each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) of valuation for a period of five years, commencing in 2021, first due in calendar year 2022.

On February 11th, 2021 Firehouse Subs on Tiffin Ave is donating 10% of their sales that day to Blanchard Township Fire Department following their fire. I have asked the members of the Liberty Township Fire Department to participate and get their lunch and/or dinner at Firehouse Subs that day. We have encouraged our members to share this with their family and friends.

I am asking YOU, supporters of the Liberty Township Fire Department to help support our brothers and sisters of Blanchard Township Fire and get your meals at Firehouse Subs on the 11th! Share with your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to help spread the word. Please mark your calendars!!
Thank you all!

Unfortunately we will not be able to do the Facebook Live version of the raffle at this time with the “shelter in place” going on right now. The raffle committee has decided to postpone the raffle until the governor removes the stay at home order. We will pass along any information we have just as soon as we can. Thank you all so much for your patience and understanding.

Press Release: Calling for Emergency Response

-If you are experiencing any flu like symptoms or have any medical questions, please contact your general physician first. This will allow 911 operators to concentrate on emergency calls.
-If you feel there is a need to use your local EMS for treatment and transport, please give the 911 operator detailed information about the symptoms that are presented. If the patient has recently traveled, within or outside of the United States, this information is vital.
-Please understand and be patient with all 911 operators as they will be asking more questions than usual to ensure First Responder Safety.
-We all have to be honest with any information that could result in harm to others.
-Make sure you inform the EMS/Fire Personnel when they arrive of all the information you provided to the 911 operator.
-We understand that this may be more time consuming, but we are attempting to keep all of our First Responders safe to return home.
-Our goal is to keep all county residents as safe and healthy as possible.

Well even with all the everything going on with not just the raffle but everything else in the world, we are still going to try to have fun and make the most of it. So it’s time for our Friday Giveaway! Remember, if you want your answer to be counted it has to be in the comments on this (DTVFD Reverse Raffle) fb post and not on any reposts. Please only one guess per person. This we will have three questions and they are

#1) Who has won the fireman’s dress the most throughout the years?

#2) This one is kind of a trick question: Who had the fastest time out of all who did the fireman’s dress last year?

#3) Who was the emcee at last year’s raffle?

GOOD LUCK!!

We would like to thank everyone for your support for the Delaware Township Volunteer Fire Department. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are not able to hold the reverse raffle as planned. We were expecting 100+ people and a ban has been put in place for the safety of the public by the governor. To comply, we have decided to hold a live drawing on DTVFD Reverse Raffle page on 3/28/2020 @ 6pm. Please join us to see who the winners are. We will also be reimbursing every ticket holder for the cost of their meal $15. These refunds will be made available to you by the person that sold you the ticket. We do still have a few tickets left that are available for purchase at a price of $35. Thank you again for your support and understanding!

Hancock County Sheriff's Office

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the community of proper school bus safety now that all City of Findlay and Hancock County Schools are back in session. The Sheriff’s Office wants all drivers and parents of school aged children to be reminded how to properly approach a stopped school bus. Children getting on the bus should wait until the bus comes to a complete stop with the red lights activated and red stop sign out before attempting to get on the bus. Once the bus is stopped children should look left, then right and left once more before entering or crossing the roadway or as directed by the bus driver.

Motorists on the roadway should be diligent and pay attention when school buses are in the area due to making frequent stops to pick up children. Motorists are encouraged to start slowing down immediately once the yellow warning flashers are initiated. According to the Ohio Revised Code section 4511.75, motorists shall stop at least ten feet from the front or rear of the school bus and shall not proceed until such school bus resumes motion, or until signaled by the school bus driver to proceed.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Michael E Heldman make school bus safety a priority and are on a constant watch for violators. Any questions reference school bus safety can be directed to the Sheriffs’ Office by calling our non-emergency line at (419)-422-2424 or Deputy Corey Hartman (419) 424-7253.
