Thanks to all of you who have donated canned goods and perishables to the container on the front porch of the library. It was something that a former VFD member's wife asked if she could be responsible for, but, as she is no longer in the area, it no longer serves its purpose. We have thrown away more food than we care to think about because people have generously donated things yet nobody has come to take what's been available. We are now concerned about the various insects and critters that move in to eat what our citizenry will not. So, while we appreciate the caring thought behind the food pantry creation, we have chosen to no longer accept food items. Thank you, again, for wanting to help your fellow neighbor!

Bonjour! We had such a good time this past Tuesday with the Summer Reading program that we thought we'd do it again next Tuesday, July 21, at 2:00 p.m. This time we are going to learn about two very important events that take place on bicycles and in cars: The Tour de France and Le Mans. We have a fun craft and a delicious French treat to celebrate! Come see what's happening at your Mount Calm Public Library as we tour France next Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.

Bonjour, chers lecteurs! We got rained out last week for Summer Reading so this Tuesday, July 14, we will be doubling up on celebrating France. We will be having not one but TWO snacks. We will be having not one but TWO crafts, and we will learn how the French celebrate their Independence. It's a Duex pour Mardi* kind of event so please come see us at 2:00 p.m. on July 14.

Bonjour Dear Friends! We've been open for a month now with regular hours and are loaded with hand sanitizer and face masks in case you forget yours!

Some of you may have seen our float in the Mount Calm Fourth of July parade and wondered if we were having our annual summer reading program. YES WE ARE!! As usual, it is on Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m. during the month of July. We have separated our tables to allow families to sit together and we will will have the aforementioned hand sanitizers and masks available if you forget yours. Tomorrow, July 7th, we will be learning about one of our most endearing symbols of freedom, The Statue of Liberty, as we set off on our French adventure. Please come and visit us as we will have loads of interesting information, a fun snack, and some cool red, white, and blue crafts. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow! Au Revoir, mes amis!

FYI: We will be monitoring the Covid-19 situation and if things become worse, we will postpone Summer Reading. We hate to even think we might have to do this, but it is for the safety of all our friends that we must consider this. Thank you for understanding.

Hello Friends! As many of you know, or have deduced by now, your Mount Calm Public Library has been closed in an effort to be safe for all who use the space including the happy faces behind the circulation desk. We will be opening with a very streamlined schedule beginning Monday, May 4th. We will open at 1:00 and close at 4:00 Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in an effort to continue to keep everyone safe. We will keep this schedule until we feel it is In everyone's best interest to return to our regular scheduled times. We have missed each of you very much but we are also aware that COVID19 is still an active force to be reckoned with. We do not take this virus lightly and we do not wish our library friends to do so either. Therefore, we will be asking that you wear a mask when you come in and that you please follow the social distancing rules of 6 ft. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Howdy y'all! This message affects folks living in the Mount Calm city limits particularly. If you have business with the city office, beginning Thursday, March 19, the door will be closed to all individuals yet the office will be open. This is a protective measure for the City Secretary and essential personnel as they continue to keep our fair city up and running in this time of uncertainty. You may call the office at 254-993-4211 to speak with Mrs. Martinez or you may talk to her through the window/door. This policy is in place until April 2, but will be revisited at that time if the situation has changed. Please share with those you think might be affected by the new policy. If things change, we will do our best to post that information. Thank you!

Dear Library Friends and Family,

It has been a struggle to make this decision as we have been watching and reading, as we know you have, the news of the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) as it spreads across the world, and is now in our very own backyard of Central Texas. We will be closed until April 2 so that, like you, we can adequately prepare and self-quarantine so as to not infect or be infected. When we all come back, hopefully we will all have managed to escape without any of our loved ones getting sick.

Remember to practice the Five Steps to keep yourself healthy:

1. Wash Your Hands Often with soap and water.
2. Cough or Sneeze into your elbow.
3. Keep from touching your face.
4. Stay at least THREE FEET (3 ft.) away from someone.
5. Stay home if you feel sick!

Please be safe and cautious, and STAY HEALTHY! We look forward to seeing you in April!

Take care,
Your Mount Calm Library Staff
