Let’s start with the Braap House and the borough, I agree with the vote of council as there were too many questions in my mind that did not get answered. From who if anybody was sponsoring the event on borough streets to who actually gave permission for the event to get to Mt. Carmel. FRO did not give permission of use of their land and Revive and Thrive was not sponsoring as of this writing. There were no plans submitted for what streets will be used or how the VIP parade will travel, who will provide the insurance if something happens. If this was to better Mt. Carmel, the musicians are welcome to come here to stop in and visit. We can bring them into the borough and give them special treatment by other means. As for the numbers they mention, in the little research I did, it said several hundred to low thousand attended last year event in Shamokin. In my opinion the Borough Council did the right thing not approving the ride.Again, we did not stop the celebrities from coming to visit Mt. Carmel just the off-road vehicles that day.
As for feeding the cats, nothing has been approved except advertising the ordinance. When you read the ordinance, I hope you keep in mind the damage that cat and bird feeding is doing. People are going through out town and putting food down on disposable plates and bowls and not cleaning up afterward. So now we have garbage issues. It is also attracting other animals such as skunks and ground hogs. The cats are going to the bathroom on other people properties and ruining outdoor furniture and carpets. As for the bird feeding you have people throwing bird food out with large cups and containers. When the birds’ crap on cars, they are ruining the paint on the vehicles if not cleaned off right away. It cost me on an average at least $25.00 a week to keep the bird droppings off my truck at the car wash or I can pull the hose out and wash it by hand which I don’t have the time for.
June 6,2026 was the start of the Paul Miller’s Law; I am still seeing a lot of drivers still holding a phone to their ear.

On Sunday, June 28th Revive and Thrive will be doing a clean-up of the Town Park in preparation for their event July 3rd. Any volunteers are greatly appreciated
On Friday July 3rdRevive and Thrive will be doing a 250th Celebration in the Town Park from 4 – 9 pm. Food, music, games and family fun.
On Saturday July 4th there will be events at the Soccer Fields sponsored by the Clover Hose, music, bounce house, food, games, co****le with fireworks at the end of the day. I don’t have details on this, so watch for information.
Saturday July 11th is the 3rd Annual Car Show (Oak St.) sponsored by Mt. Carmel Area Community Center, featuring Jeff Lear’s Dragster.
Saturday July 18th is Christmas in July (Oak St.) sponsored by the Mt. Carmel Area Community Center.
July 21st “Go Joe 29” to raise money for ST. Joseph Center is coming to our Town Park in the afternoon. More details to follow.
July 23, 24 and 25 is the MCVESA Picnic in the Park which benefits all Volunteer services to help defraycosts for their equipment.

We are taking a lot of complaints on electric scooters, e-bikes and ATV’s. There are laws on these vehicles and they are prohibited on our streets.

Still moving forward with the Holy Cross School.
Working on the fire damaged houses on Poplar Street and the Columbia Building Supply properties, researching all possible solutions.
Still seeing peopleworking on vehicles on borough streets is prohibited and illegal and is covered in the Quality-of-Life Ordinance.
Need to get rid of your poultry (ducks and chickens)they are not permitted in the borough. Borough Code section 27 Zoning, Table of Use Regulations Chart section 9-C.
As you can see numbers are rising for complaints and QOL. You are responsible to do your property maintenance
