Mount Carroll Fire Department Our dedicated team of volunteer firefighters proudly service the Mount Carroll Fire Protection distr

Becoming a volunteer firefighter requires extensive training, hard work and dedication to the community. Smaller communities rely on volunteer firefighters to respond quickly to emergencies, to perform firefighting duties and to provide assistance and support to other local emergency agencies. Although volunteer firefighters receive little to no monetary compensation for their efforts, the chance

to aid and serve the community is an extremely rewarding experience. Our usual roster size is a group of 25-30 individuals willing to risk their lives 24/7 to protect the Mt Carroll Fire protection district. We are currently equipped with two engine pumpers, three tankers - including one 4x4, two brush rigs, one rescue rig, one personnel vehicle and a portable pump.

Trying something new. We used to do raffles for prizes now we just want to do a huge 50/50 drawing. Starting now and ending on July 7th, you can purchase raffle tickets at different local businesses and from any fire department member for the amounts shown. The drawing will be held on the evening of July 7th. The winner will be notified by phone. All proceeds go towards our Mount Carroll Fire Department fireworks show.

A tornado watch has been issued for Carroll County, in effect until 10 p.m. Stay alert through the remainder of the day and this evening as there is a chance of severe storms.

⚠️BLIZZARD WARNING – Carroll County, IL ⚠️

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for Carroll County from Sunday into Monday. Hazardous winter weather is expected with strong winds, blowing snow, and significantly reduced visibility, which could make travel difficult or impossible at times.

Residents are encouraged to complete errands, grocery shopping, and other necessary travel today or early Sunday morning before conditions deteriorate later in the evening.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.

Please stay safe and plan ahead!
